Practical questions - London Hospital

Just a few silly thoughts here about getting to the hospital in labour. I'm at Queen Charlotte's Hospital.

  1. A book suggested a taxi so that whilst in labour your partner isn't faffing for a space etc. Is that preferred in reality? Would that mean DH popping home before us to get the car and car seat when we are ready to go home? Or we would bring the lot?!
  1. I'm 36 weeks now and I have growth scans this week, 38 and 40. So far I drive myself to the hospital. Would you keep you bags in the car now? Just in case they spot something and keep you in. Or leave them at home on the basis DH would being them and himself in (and god knows what happens to the car you have parked!)

I know these are small questions but just wondering and I fear the midwife will tell me what suits her hospital rather than me best! Doesn't help with covid DH can't just walk in and out.

  1. Due to covid once you arrive at the hospital in established labour you’ll go to triage alone and be assessed. Your husband can sort the car out then. I think waiting for a taxi would be even more stressful tbh, and seems unnecessary.
  1. I would have your bags packed and Chuck in the boot for your appointments rather than wishing you had.

Sorry meant to add for number one I assume that’s what will happen at your hospital. But your midwife should have told you that by now.
