I'm 7wks2days, I'd say the beginning of last week I started feeling nauseous and foods that I normally love I can't stand the thought of eating and also I don't want to drink anything. I'm finding I'm eating plain foods but not wanting to drink anything is bothering me. I can't stomach the thought of any drink - tea, juice, cordial, fizzy, milk even just water on its own! It's annoying me because I do need to drink as I am prone to headaches.
I bought some lemons and added them to my water to see if that helps but I am only managing a few little sips. I was just wondering has anyone got any advice or know how long this could go on for? I'm starting to annoy myself!lol
(I'm 36 and this is our first baby)

Been there OP - I had sickness, nausea and went off everything from week 5 to week 15 and then it slowly came back. I’m 29 weeks now and appetite is back to normal.
Everyone is different but normally once the placenta takes over and your hormones settle you will start to feel better.

It does get better, just takes time. I used to just drink sips of things, water or squash came back up but a few sips here and there was ok. Just do what you can manage. Lucozade was a big help to me. Oh and I ate watermelon, anything to stop dehydration.

Im 10+5 now and I have had this problem for weeks 🤢 I have found sipping really cold water helps and lucozade sports has been ok. Foods been hard to stomach but is slowly getting better, if I feel too sick to eat I nibble a few ginger nuts or something plain like ritz crackers or a slice of bread that helped a little

Mlsweetpea · 15/02/2021 08:46

Adding a slice of lemon/cucumber/strawberry, etc to my water was the best solution I could come up with. I had issues drinking plain water (weird I know) during the first 3 months. This was the only way I could drink. I was maybe drinking 1 mug of decaff tea a day, that was it in terms of other liquids.
Foodwise, I think I lived on boiled potatoes for some time. Salty crackers are good company when you are not feeling good as well.

It slowly disappeared between 17-20 Week.

I felt like this in the beginning I am 18 weeks now and I can say it does get better. The 2 things I found helpful was to keep my drinks in the fridge, it was off to me as I never liked cold pop before but now I can't drink it if it's not cold. Don't expect to be able to manage a big drink at once just have small sips every so often. Also try eating Ice pops/lollies seems mad in the cold weather but if you can manage it, it will count towards your fluid intake. Hope this helps

I don't think I was as bad as you're describing but I definitely had a couple of weeks where I was living on lemon ice lollies. Somehow easier to have a lolly than just a drink. Got through a lot of calippos in the 1st trimester!

BeeBear2019 · 15/02/2021 11:11

@penguin7
I am currently in the same situation! The nausea is insane. I have actually lost weight since becoming pregnant.

I have found smoothies are bearable to drink - I add water and lots of fruit, so I know I am having something fairly nutritional and also fluids.

Hope you feel better soon xx

penguin7 · 15/02/2021 14:42

Thank you all for the replies! Nice to know it's a common feeling! Aaargh!

Going to try and make some smoothies in the blender. Any recommendations let me know. ☺️

I was the same OP. I just trusted my body would take care of itself and I didn't vomit much (though was very nauseous) so wasn't too concerned about dehydration.
I normally have a super healthy diet of fruits, veggies and fish but all I could eat in my first trimester was toast and chips!
I found sparkling water to be the only thing I could drink; which was odd as I normally can't stand it.

Skymum82 · 15/02/2021 16:06

Im the same. It’s so depressing. I’m managing a few sips of lucazade and trying my hardest to sip water. I literally love food so the struggle is real 😂
