Water births

This has probably been done to death on here so apologies if so 😂
I’m 32 weeks with baby boy no2, I know it’s not a guarantee (there’s 2 pools at our local hospital) but DS1’s birth wasn’t a great experience so I’m hoping for a water birth this time. I’m currently ‘low risk’ so as long as a pool is available on the day there isn’t a reason I can’t have one at the moment.
Curious of others experiences with baby no2, when no1 was on dry land and required (lots of) intervention 😖 episiotomy and ventouse in my case.
Was there anything you packed in your bag that was a life saver or a complete waste of time/space? I absolutely love a bath and was thinking of taking my bath pillow but didn’t want the midwives thinking I was mental just rocking up at the hospital with it 😂
Also - is it really true the second baby comes quicker? DS1 was a full day from first contraction to him being pulled out.
TIA! X

I just got in wearing a crop top. Nothing special packed. With a pillow would you be on your back? I lent over the side so my husband could feed me lucozade when I needed it in between the gas and air.

Yes my second came so quick I barely got my trousers off. I think I still had a jacket on 😯 but everyone is different of course...

Episiotomy and forceps with my first and water birth with second. Much shorter labour (5 hours from regular contractions). No tearing, lovely experience.

Yes bring your pillow! Anything to be more comfy. Some flip flops for when they make you periodically waddle to the loo and back. Some nice moisturiser for your shower afterwards as being in the water makes you turn into a prune. A couple of nice bath towels from home as hospital ones are diddy.

@Yellowtopaz my thinking for the pillow was either to prop it on the edge to lean on or even put it in the water so I could have it underneath my knees? Kind of like an all fours situation. When I had DS1 I just remember being in so much pain I couldn’t move, like I was glued to the bed, so I’m hoping this way it gives me ability to move around a bit if I did want to x

@newstart1234 oh wow that sounds very quick!! X

@lemorella this fills me with so much hope, thank you! Ahhh yes moisturiser, makes sense and I definitely would have forgotten that! And a nice big bath towel 😊 that’s super helpful thank you x
