Has anyone been told the wrong sex?

Just curious, has anyone been told the sex of baby at scans and then had a surprise when they arrive?!?

I’m 36 weeks with DC3, we’ve had the sneak peek test, NHS Scan and private gender scan and all have said boy so unlikely to be wrong. But DH and I BOTH had a dream last night that DS was in fact a DD! Obviously I’m happy either way, just as long as they’re healthy and it gives me an excuse for more shopping if the guesses were wrong 😂

I've had two separate scans which have said I'm having a girl and after some initial shock (I already have two boys so assumed this would be a boy too, although didn't mind either way) I've got my head around having a girl now and think I would find it hard to find out it was a boy at birth. Obviously I'd get over it but I would hate for it to ruin those first few moments.

I was told I was having a boy and then at a later scan a girl, it was a girl , first scan at 23 weeks was wrong !

I know three people who have. One really struggled after planning for a daughter, having a c section under a GA and then being handed her son. She said for years she had a doubt about whether the hospital had mixed up her baby as her son didn’t resemble either her or her husband. She said it was the biggest relief when her second son was born because he was so similar to her eldest son.

Thanks all
@Pumpkinpied Oh that must have been a shock for them both!
@DollyParton2 Not hoping for anything, just genuinely curious, as I don’t know anyone personally. As I said, happy with either and thrilled that we’re likely having a boy!

Just aware that the sneak peek isn’t majorly accurate especially if you live with males. 16 week scan said boy, 20 week said “probably a boy”.

Well, I was meant to be a Nicholas. I am instead a Nicola. My Mum couldn't believe it when the midwife declared "it's a girl!", although it was very early days of discovering sex at scans! (I am now a Nicola, so thankful the name transferred well, Imagine if she'd pre-picked William or Richard or something).

I know of someone who was told girl and then boy. From what I know, it's far less common to mistake a winky

dinosaur17 · 13/02/2021 23:35

@ScottishLassie91 Did think it probably wouldn’t be that common. I don’t know which way round I’d find more confusing!

@dinosaur17 yeah, we found out at a 16 week private scan and he was sitting with his legs crossed so took the sonographer ages and me jogging round the block, jumping jacks and squats to find out 😂 at our anomaly scan at 21 weeks, DH asked if it was definitely a boy and the doctor laughed as there was a clear winky on screen that he wasn't shy about showing off that time 🙈
