7 month old and possibly pregnant

Hi everyone,

This is my first thread so if it ends up in the wrong place or I do something silly, please let me know.

So basically, I have a 7 month old son. We are/were planning to have another little one in about 2 years maybe. However, we had a careless night and I think it might have been around my first ovulation since giving birth.(not had a period yet)
My question is not if I am pregnant. I have to wait and see obviously. But if it is okay to get pregnant so soon especially if I previously had a c section. I am worried about miscarriage and if baby will be healthy.

I know it would’ve been ideal to wait but when I thought about it, I really don’t mind. We would be soooo happy but only if baby would be okay.
What do you think?

I got pregnant when my first was 6 months old (deliberately!). I didn't have the c-section issue to think about but it was absolutely fine, in lots of ways a much easier and more straightforward pregnancy and birth than the first one. After the first 6-12 months of chaos and whirlwind, it was brilliant having them so close together, they were like twins. They are teens now and still very close friends.
I have never had a section though so that is something worth looking into I would think?

Wow. Thank you so much for the super-quick reply. It’s really reassuring to hear.
My first was 10.25lbs and I am tiny so unfortunately there was no other option after a day of labour then c sec. I healed fairly quickly though so what I was more worried about is whether my nutrition supply would be good enough to carry a baby. I have at least one rubbish food a day. I hadn’t had much time to cook regularly until recently. Shameful I know. My partner works 50 hrs though. :(
Anyway, I hope I am pregnant then and can end up with two close in age children like you :) sounds amazing. And yes I know, the first few months wouldn’t be...

I had a C-section with my first and got pregnant with my second at 8 months post partum so there are 17 months between them. I didn't have any problems during my second pregnancy due to my previous C-section. They are now 2 and 4 and get along great most of the time.

iMatter · 11/02/2021 08:20

I had a section with my first and got pregnant again when he was 4 months old. It was tough physically but everything worked out really well.

I wouldn't change it for the world. Good luck Smile

My friend has 13 months between her two kids, no issues whatsoever.

Thank you so much for all the replies. :)
You really put my mind at ease.
I just wasn’t sure what to wish for. I would love another baby but was a bit worried. Not anymore. Thank you.
Our bodies are amazing, aren’t they?
Not the way they look anymore but what they’re capable of. XD

Forgot to ask. Did you have to have another section?

I have 11 months between mine, both planned — well, the gap would have been bigger but the second one was premature.
It’s amazing. They can play together well but there is a clear hierarchy of age so not much conflict. They are really close. Also, the first one never resented the second because she was so young when he was born.

Like you I had a big one at 10lb 12oz (2nd) but natural delivery, fell pregnant when he was 5mth. Mc that one then fell pregnant quickly again, she was a breeze after the boy at 9lb 10oz. There are 16.5mth between 2nd & 3rd, it could be tiring but it's nice having a small age gap. Some say having a small age gap is like having twins but that's not true, we had twins too when the 3rd was nearing 3yrs. Another level of tired lol. We're 13+2wk with #6 now.

Chelyanne · 11/02/2021 08:58

Had a cesarean with our twins. I fell pregnant when they were 3mth, would have been pretty much a year between them if I hadn't miscarried at 8wk.
I was told that it's best not to have another for at least a year after cesarean but plenty do it. I had diastastis recti after the girls which took years to repair in the gym, I only notice my scar after heavy deadlifts.

ReaX · 11/02/2021 09:20

MySocalledLoaf - it sounds like they have an amazing relationship. Kinda makes me want to have a second one now on purpose if I end up not pregnant this time.
Chelyanne - you sound like a superwomen. I am sorry about the mc though. I’m not sure how I could cope with that. I’ll try to be cautiously happy until the 12 week mark.

Go for it! Hard work but then you’ve got it over with. It was much easier to get the baby stage over in one block than getting out of nappies and sleepless nights and then having to go back a year later.

My boys are 12 months and 2 weeks apart. I had emergency c sec for the first and a planned c sec for second. Found the recovery for planned so much easier, plus I knew what was coming. Was in shock for a while after first one and lost a lot of blood so felt awful. Consultant had no issue with another section - I was too scared to attempt vbac

My first boy was a late Walker (17mo) so the first bit was hard as I had to carry them both. Luckily our pram could convert to a double.
Second ds had done everything quicker (someone to copy!) and in 2020 (ages 2 and 3) things got much easier very fast! Despite the tantrums etc they play together at the same stuff and can amuse each other.

There have been hard bits but overall I love the age gap

Almost identical here; my 2 are 16m apart.

I'm currently 36weeks with dc3 (2year gap since dc2) and I have noticed that my scar has been less uncomfortable during this pregnancy. I had a vbac at home with dc2 and hoping for the same with dc3.

Pregnancy and birth we're totally fine.

user1471457757 · 11/02/2021 17:58

I had a C-section with my first and second who were 17 months apart. With my second I laboured for 24 hours but had to have an emergency c-section in the end as she got stuck. I would say that I recovered quicker with my second which is surprising considering I was lugging around my 17 month old who couldn't yet walk.

ReaX · 12/02/2021 09:00

Now I just feel silly that I worried about it at all.
Thank you for all the replies.
I would definitely be more prepared for the second c sec and for the kids having an small age gap seems more beneficial.
I’ll see what I can do. Grin

I fell pregnant with number 3 when number 2 was 2.5 months old. I had natural with number 2 but really bad birth injuries so opted for a c section. I healed really well and although it's hard work they're 9 months and and 20.5 months and already play together I've just made sure we follow a routine and all is well. Good luck ! X

nervousseacreature · 12/02/2021 20:02

It’s definitely not silly to be worried! I cried when I saw the positive test, with a 4mo old! I had no clue how I would manage but I did.
Good luck op!
