What Moses basket to go for?

I am looking at getting a Moses basket as I can't fit a cot in my room. There are so may baskets to look at and getting myself a bit confused 🤦
I don't want to spend more than £50 considering they will only be able to stay in it for about 3 or 4 months. I have been looking at Clair De lune and Kinder valley, anyone got experience of these brands? Or do you recommend a different brand?

A crib would be bigger and last slightly longer than a moses basket

They're all much of a muchness really, and don't last long as baby is quickly out of them. I went with one I got for £3 at an NCT sale and it served me fine for two babies.

Got ours from Aldi we just use it downstairs through the day, think it was £20. And have a bedside cot upstairs. The bedside cot lasted us 9 months before he outgrew it but the Moses basket only around 4 months

They're usually widely available locally on Facebook marketplace for about £10 then another £10 or so for a new mattress.

We’ve got a Clair de lune one; it’s been used for both my DC and my nephew and still got lots of life left in it

I personally dislike Moses baskets and didn't use one.

I got a next to me crib and it lasted both to 6 months.

My sister in law had a Clair de lune one for my nephew, he is now 3 months old and filling the basket already!

I've got my eye on the Aldi one with a stand, mainly for use downstairs, and then I'll use a bedside crib upstairs. I don't think there's much difference between different moses baskets tbh, as long as they are safe that's the main thing.

We didn't bother, he fit in the next to me until he was about nine months then went into a cot in his own room

I got one reduced to £10 in Aldi, it was nice but I could have got by without it. He never slept in the bloody thing anyway! On us or in his pram at a push.

You can get space saving cots they are for narrow bedrooms. We got the smallest one on the market which was from Mother care. We made it up without one side, and lashed it to our bed frame with ratchet straps. We shoved the mattress flush to mind and filled in the gap on the other side with rolled up bath towels. Hey presto, a bedside cot that could transfer into another room eventually. I think it only added a foot width onto my bed in the end.

Check your dimensions carefully. You may well be able to find a cot that fits.

Moses baskets last hardly any time especially if it's a fast grower, and then your going to have to think of other options anyway unless you want to turf them out at 3 months.

I second this - I used mine up till 8 months. So much bigger than a Moses basket.

You can normally pick them up a decent price on Facebook market place, just make sure you buy a new mattress but they aren't expensive x

We did use a Moses basket but I'm expecting a baby now and I won't be getting one this time. We have the uppababy vista pram and the carrycot is certified for overnight sleep so may use that. Otherwise probably getting a next to me crib.

We had a little green sheep one, looked lovely but doesn’t get used for long so probably not worth the money in all honesty. They all loved sleeping in the next to me crib and it didn’t take up much room plus can be used for naps with the side up.

Also the Aldi one during the baby event - around 20 with stand. It’s nice to splash out on some things but I don’t a Moses basket is one of them. Used it for about 3 or 4 months.
