Lactating after miscarriage

Hi all. I’m wondering if any of you have some first hand experience. I had a missed miscarriage almost 4 weeks ago. It looked fairly complete according to follow up scan 2 weeks ago and bleeding had almost stopped. I miscarried at almost 14 weeks but baby measured 9 weeks so that is regarded as my miscarriage date.
It looks (I used OPKs and HCG tests) and feels like I ovulated about 9 days ago. My husband and I decided we’d start trying again right away. My issue is, my body appeared to return to fairly normal quite quickly, however, 2 days ago my breasts started to swell up again and I’ve suddenly started to lactate (very slightly). My nipples became large and purple again after settling down.
I’m having difficulty finding out if this is par for the course or a bit unusual. No one mentioned I would lactate but the. Chagall in the last week has been remarkable! I’d be really grateful if others could share similar experiences as I cannot find any other info anywhere! Preg test this morning was negative but it is just a cheap strip test.

The change, not Chagall

So I miscarried about the same time (baby grew to 10+5, discovered 12wks, surgery at 14wks) and I did not have any similar symptom. I would definitely ask your GP or EPU about the lactation .

With the colour change to nips, I hope you have conceived again! Only a few days before you can test Smile. wishing you all the best

Thanks so much for your reply Daydream. I’m sorry for your loss. It’s such an awful time so I hope you’re finding your way through it all.
I’ve found so much comfort from others ladies in the miscarriage community. Info on missed miscarriage is especially poor so I really appreciate any input from other ladies who’ve been there.
I think I might test again in a couple of days and then contact the GP if none the wiser.

Yeah I agree @Emmum16 and to be honest GPs etc arent always the most knowledgeable on fertility or miscarriage either! I hope you're doing okay - it is such a sad thing to happen and to be honest I feel like the timeline from getting pregnant, to finding out about MMC, to surgery, to getting negative tests, to TTC again has just been really longggg. I feel like I'm grieving the baby but also the lost time.

This happened to me - it died down after a few days. I’m so sorry for your loss x

I’m the same, @TheDaydreamBelievers. I’m no spring chicken so getting to the 12 week scan was a big thing for me. Waiting for your body to reset is a real mind bender. Hopefully we’ll both get to where we want to be sooner rather than later and find some healing too. X

@Nightmanagerfan that’s interesting. I’ve read so many stories at this point that only time can truly tell. I don’t want my heart to be broken again by hoping that this might be another pregnancy so I appreciate the candour.
