How specific are conception dates

Hey,

Please don't judge - I had sex Friday 30th January with one partner, the day before my conception date (as per my app that is usually specific)

And

I ended up having sex exactly a week later February 5th with another partner.

I have taken the morning after pill after the second partner in under 24 hours.

I'm just wondering if I am pregnant by chance how specific are ultrasounds in finding the conception date? I made a silly mistake and my anxiety is through the roof worrying that I could be pregnant but I'm nervous I wouldn't be able to know exactly who it is with.

Also can you do DNA tests before baby is born?

Thank you

Scans are always estimates with dates and unfortunately can be out by up to a week. However it does seem more likely to be man 1 - because the sperm was there waiting for the egg on conception date and also because you took emergency contraception after man 2.

You can do prenatal DNA tests but they carry a risk to the baby and to you - there is a small risk of miscarriage for example.

I hope that you're able to work this out and that these men are good men x

I'm currently 12 weeks pregnant. My dating scan put my conception date as 17th but my partner wasn't even home from work until 19th after being away for 3 weeks so not very accurate for me!

They can be off by quite a bit because of varying growth rates. With our eldest they put conception date at time of af but her growth then slowed and she was more in line with my dates by the anomaly scan.
You can have paternity tests during pregnancy, not sure how you go about getting it done though.

If you took the morning after pill after the second man then it would be much less likely to be him unless the pill didn’t work.

There’s not enough between the dates for the scan to know. They moved my due date forward by a week even though I was doing ovulation testing and was pretty sure it was accurate.

I believe the DNA test involves inserting a needle to get a sample and has risk of miscarriage

The morning after pill doesn't work well if you've already ovulated. So if by 'conception date' you mean time of ovulation, the first partner was much more likely to have got you pregnant but the MAP wouldn't really have any effect on the second partner's chance of getting you pregnant (which is much lower anyway based on your dates?)

Even if you are reasonable sure of your most likely ovulation date, if you had two parents within get a week of each other around the time of ovulation, there is no chance that a scan can give you reliable enough information to settle paternity.

You will need DNA tests

Yes they can be done prenatally, but may need to be repeated after the child is born if there are for example maintenance disputes, and only court-approved tests count for that

(Includes list of approved providers - you could see if any of them also do pre-natal)
