Not a nice topic but I’m worried just looking to see if anyone has had a similar experience, I’m 26 weeks pregnant and I have a large external thrombosed hemorrhoid. The doctor has prescribed scheriproct ointment and I have been bathing 3 plus more times a day and using ice. I’ve had it for 8 days and it’s not got any better I can hardly walk!! Has anyone had one of these and it’s eventually went away on its own? Or did you need to get it removed? I don’t know how much longer I can take it :(

@PregnantGotCovid I have tried the ice as well wrapped up but anything that ever so slightly touched sting like hell! Lol.

I think I will try germaloids as a few people have now said it’s better than anusol! I wish I could sit for hours with ice or in water but I’m lucky if my 2 year old lets me sit for 10 minutes 🙈 nightmare lol.

I had one a few years ago and the doctor actually expressed sympathy for me because it was so bad! They are so bloody painful!

Have you got a rubber ring to sit on so your bum is in the middle and doesn't feel any pressure? The scheriproct ointment worked really quickly and thank god I've never had another one!

Sending much sympathy (can't even send wine as you're pregnant!)

@HappyThursdays it is so bad isn’t it! no I don’t have a cushion but I’m defos going to get one! Sitting is the worst. Today it has started to bleed not sure if this is a good thing that it might shrink or if it will just hurt more 👎🏻

@CovoidOfAllHumanity - it was a general surgeon, not a GP. I went to my OB/Gyn initially and he sent me downstairs to the Gen Surgeon after taking one look at what I was dealing with. No questions asked.

The entire procedure took a matter of less than 20 minutes, in his examining room.

@Emz012019 - honestly, you don't have to be trying to cope with this pain while taking care of a toddler.

Just saw it has started to bleed.

You need to get it seen to. The last thing you need is an infection from fecal matter passing through.

@mathanxiety I presume you are not in the UK.

The doctor told me that unless they catch it v early they don't do surgery on it here. Apparently there's no evidence it heals quicker (in fact it may slow it down)! Tbh I wasn't letting anyone near my bum when it was that painful.

I think once it bleeds it's on its way out but do keep an eye on it. Hope you feel better soon!

@Emz012019 hey I know this is a very old post but what happened in the end? I'm 37 weeks and in absolute agony! It's rock solid and so large (bigger than a grape) the doctor has just given me annusol and sent me on my way. I'm so worried about how painful and hard it has become

Eldl96 · 06/12/2022 20:58

@alyce38x Hey, aw you have my sympathy honestly I completely understand exactly how much pain you are in! Mine was huge and rock hard it did eventually shrink I bought a sitz bath that sits over the toilet and as many times a day as I could I filled it with hot water (as hot as you can handle) and I just sat and soaked it (highly recommend the sitz bath for the toilet it really helped the pain and shrunk it quickly with the heat), I also used suppositories. This won’t sound nice but if it’s a prolapsed hemorrhoid then try and use the suppository to gently push it back inside (might hurt initially) but then lie down this will ease the pain and you should feel some relief. I know how bad the pain is right now but it will shrink rest as much as you can the pressure makes it worse!
