I used the fetal Doppler and I'm only 9 weeks pregnant, the heart rate was going from 90 bpm to 106 bpm.

Obviously that's low for 9 weeks but has anyone else had this problem I know the machines aren't accurate?? I just need my mind eased 😭

Hey op you could be listening to your own pulse, reckon 9 weeks too early to hear baby. I would put it away and relax, sure it's all fine x

Yes this is exactly what I thought!! I just wanted a piece of mind from someone else.

Don't read too much in to it. Dopplers should not be used for reassurance if you have no training to use one.
At this early stage the midwives will not use a doppler as it is quite difficult to find babys heartbeat. Just relax and wait for your dating scan.

I have a doppler so not against having one but if I'm ever worried I will contact the midwife rather than take finding a heartbeat to mean all is well. Without training you don't know if what you are hearing is baby or not.

Yes and I completely understand that, I ordered one and thought why not give it a go now but I so regret it. I didn't do it because I was worried about my baby because if I were I would be on the phone to the midwife not using a stupid machine, I done it purely to see if I could hear anything at this stage but all I've done is gone and worried myself

Congratulations!!
Same experience here.In early weeks it could be your own pulse from main veins rather than the baby heartbeat.Once you discover it tend to be much higher in early weeks, steadily going down as pregnancy is progressing.
Mine was clearly distinguishable between 10-12 weeks and was around 170 bpm until 27-28 weeks of pregnancy when it was 110-135bpm.

A midwife wouldn't be willing to do it until 16 weeks as it's that tricky to do so I'd hold off using it again for a while.

Don't worry, it is very difficult to locate the hb when they are so small, it's also very quiet at 1st.

You'll get many on here who will tell you to put it in the bin. I bought mine when pregnant with our 2nd following 2 mc's, it doesn't have a digital display because it's so old.

At 9 weeks the baby is bloomin' tiny. You're most definitely feeling your own pulse as you've got a great big artery down the front of your abdomen that you'll easily find.

I personally hate these Dopplers, and I use them at work (in a different capacity). User competence is very important, plus later in pregnancy a home doppler reading of a heartbeat is no way reassuring if fetal movements are disturbed. That lil baby may still be struggling and you've falsely reassured yourself. :/

Obviously do as you wish, some people find reassurance in those things but I'd put the Doppler away and stop using it.

A private scan would be far more reassuring that the baby is viable, but note that only holds for that moment in time.

I'd say that's your own heartbeat tbh.
9 weeks is quite early to be picking anything up. Hence why midwives don't use them until further on

Just thought I’d add that my friend told me the other day she read an article where they did a test and they used a home Doppler and picked up a heartbeat on someone who wasn’t even pregnant, so I really wouldn’t trust one! I won’t be buying one. The other problem is that they can give you false reassurance and stop you from calling midwife if you have a problem so another reason I wouldn’t use one x
