Car seat & isofix base issue - please help!

Hello lovelies! I hope you’re all well 💕

I have a dilemma which is stressing me out more than it should lol. I bought the Icklebubba Stomp V3 with the Mercury iSize car seat with the isofix. I stupidly attached the car seat the wrong way around - I knew it was rear facing only but managed to attach it forward facing 🤦🏾‍♀️

It now is stuck and the back clips will not come out, I think because it needs to slip out backwards but there’s a handle that stops it from doing so. We’ve been struggling with it for 4 hours with no luck! We’ve tried everything, even tried opening up the car seat and the isofix base but still no way to get to the clips to manually detach it. Been scrolling on the internet with the hope that someone somewhere has had a similar problem and fixed it, but no one seems to have done so. I have now emailed Icklebubba but worried they may turn around and say that since it’s not a product issue, they won’t help.

I’m currently 37+2 with my first and been having a feeling he might come early! So slightly panicked that I’m unprepared. Has anyone gone through something similar or know anyone who has???

Thanks in advance xx

The only thing I can think is try and get the whole lot out if the car stuck together and bring into the house. There are tiny clips and buttons that are hard to see in most seats. You may get a better look at it. Put it upside down see if it releases anything. Press buttons in combination.

Good luck.

I wouldn't open up the car seat though.
You need it to be in good condition to be safe.
Could you take the whole thing to a shop? Ask for help?
Sounds stressful!!

Thanks for the reply 💕

We've not even put it in the car yet! Literally took it out the box and clipped it in to try it. I don't know WHAT possessed me to clip it in the wrong way.

We've tried looking at YouTube videos and searching threads online but they all show the removal of a car seat that's been attached correctly 😂

Can you call the manufacturer ? See if they can help or they might be able to send a replacement

Hey Niisa

Did you ever find a solution on this as I have STUPIDLY done the same thing and can’t work out how to get it apart.

Thanks

Niisa · 28/02/2021 12:34

@JimmyDunlop I contacted them and they said to put a lot of weight on the middle of the car seat (where baby's bottom would be) and then someone else pull the release lever and lift the car seat up at the same time.

We couldn't do it as the release lever detached so they've kindly replaced the whole thing for us. Hope it works!!

Thank you @MumOfBoys16 @SunnySideUp2020 @boymum88 - MN didn't send me a notification so didn't realise y'all responded xx

Thanks Niisa.

After a lot of time percolating ideas I did literally what they advised to do after seeing the the rear hooks face the opposite way to the front I had the idea of pushing down whilst the partner pulled the release lever and I pull up as she did it.

It worked and it popped right off.

Very good of IckleBubba to replace yours and hopefully any other doughnuts that put it on back to front can see a solution on here and not panic. Ha.

Thanks and hope you have a healthy little person either in or about to be in it now.

James

@JimmyDunlop they said it was quite common for people to attach it the wrong way around! 😂 Glad I wasn't the only one!

Thank you - patiently waiting for his arrival, he's currently 4 days overdue!

All the best with you!
