Hi ladies,
Please help, iam 24 weeks and have a low lying placenta was told by the midwife not to shag until it goes up and i am booked for a scan at 36 weeks, forgot to ask about doing yoga. My yoga class wont take me as they are not sure either. Been to the g.p and was told to be cautious. Anyone out there!

I've got a Grade IV previa (ie the placenta's completely covering the cervix) and have been doing ante-natal yoga since week 16 - I'm now on week 37 and have had no bleeding. The consultant at my hospital was ok with it so you could see if they'll accept that? Some people seem to be told not to do anything at all, but my consultant was much more chilled. The only thing I've stopped is sex, which is grim, but less grim than the alternative....
So yes, yoga's fine, so long as it's ok for any other pregnant woman. You might find that the baby's transverse because it can't get its head down, in which case some poses are uncomfortable, but you can just not do them.
Good luck, hope it moves for you - most do!

Hey fingerbobs,
Good to know someone with the same problem is doing great. The shagging will survive as i was just about to start ivf treatment when i got pregnant and was dismissed with a note from the ivf clinic saying spontaneous pregnancy yeah right-we had been trying for two years. i will start next week as i really need the exercise.
thanks!

I've got low lying placenta on 20 weeks scan. Was doing yoga throughout the whole pregnancy. I told my teacher as soon as was diagnosed and she didn't think it would be a problem.

My placenta went up eventually. I din't have any bleeding at all.

Found yoga very helpful. Had a wonderfull natural birth.

i had a grade iv PP and did not nothing different. even had sex up until a few days before CS. did not tell my consultant this as he would have flipped his lid and like fingerbobs had no bleading. however no bleeeding is in the minority with a major PP. with any luck yours will move. did they say how low or if it was over? more than 2cm over and the chances of moving are a bit less likely.

Hi moo,
They did not say how low, but thank you for the advice, on my next appointment i will ask how low as i dont think i can deal with the c-section as i am still dealing with the scar from the laprosopopy.

Pesky placentas. FWIW I'd add that its not over until its over with PP. At 37.5 wks with bags packed for next-day CS I was told it had finally moved clear and sent home to wait for natural labour. Obviously not everyone is so lucky but the odds are stacked in favour. Worth always knowing where the nearest hospital is just in case. No outward bound courses for now.

Good luck.

i'd take it as easy as you can. i have a few bleeds, once after cleaning the kitchen floor, though they did just seem to start after doing nothing in particular.
