Hi I'm 21 weeks pregnant, I have a front placenta, and u still haven't had much movement from babe. I'm getting stressed about it as other people have said oh yeah I had a front facing placenta but I felt movement from 19 weeks.

I should also mention its my first pregnancy.

Hey I have a front placenta too and didn't feel any movement until week 24 and even then it was very minor. I guess you had the 20 week scan last week and got some reassurance then, but please don't worry as they told me they wouldn't expect me to feel anything till.24/25. I'm 39 weeks now and know its so hard not to worry but really its not something to expect to feel with the placenta position just yet. Hope you're feeling ok otherwise! Try not to worry :-)

It's normal with an anterior placenta. I was told it could take until 24 weeks.

My first was anterior placenta. I started to feel her at 23w

It’s hard please try not to worry but always contact your MW if you’re concerned

Hi OP, my first was anterior placenta and if I’m honest, I struggled to feel movements even late into my pregnancy and never established the “pattern”. The first movement I felt was 25+ weeks, and only then if I drank something cold and waited for it! I went in a few times for movement past 30 weeks and the hospital was always lovely. But I did find it scary. LO was born safely - always very active on scans, just well tucked in behind the placenta or down into my crotch for most of my pregnancy x

For what’s it’s worth, I’m 24 weeks pregnant again and it feels completely different, so much clearer. On reflection, I find it frustrating looking back and thinking “this is what others are talking about” as I always wondered if not being able to “follow” the movement pattern was my fault/me missing something or not understanding - whereas now I know it was just a different baby presenting in a different way!

Do speak with a midwife if you are worried. Once you are 26-28 weeks (depending on location I think) they will ask you to come in for monitoring, and track movements and ask you to track them too. I was always told they would prefer to hear from me too often, than too late/little.

@MissingCoffeeandWine, if it wasnt for the fact that my second pregnancy ended 2.5yrs ago, I would have mistaken your post for mine!

Also anterior placenta for 2 pregnancies and never established a pattern of movement first time. Went into hospital multiple times for reduced movement - every time monitor showed very active baby I just couldn't feel the movement. First felt after 24 weeks and still very faint feelings.

Second time round, it was much more normal and what I was led to believe was normal for movement despite placenta in exact same place.

Don't worry at this stage, it will happen.
