Hiya,

Can anyone please recommend a good baby monitor with camera? I’m looking for one with a really clear picture in both day and night . Thank you Smile

This thread is quite old now so some of the suggestions may be out of date, but if you’ve landed here looking for a great baby monitor, we’ve recently updated our best baby monitors page with lots of options, as tried and tested by Mumsnet users and their babies. We hope you find it useful. Flowers

We've bought a eufy baby monitor, haven't got the baby yet but it's set up to look at our fur babies haha. We had the eufy robot hoover and doorbell, and wanted one that wouldn't connect to the internet for security purposes. So far we're pleased with it.

Based on reviews and some recommendations from friends, I'm going to go for the BT Baby Monitor (the 6000 model, not the new smart version as I really don't need it to have WiFi/an app).

wimbler · 04/02/2021 10:13

we have the bt 6000 and have been using it for 2 years. It works perfectly fine. picture is clear and sound is good. The range is a bit spotty at times, especially if another baby monitor is being used nearby but we don't have an issue in our house.

MariaDingbat · 04/02/2021 10:15

We have the smart version of the BT 6000 and it's great. The picture on the app is much clearer than the monitor, you can take photos and record video from the app and you don't have to worry about charging the monitor all the time. The night vision is very good too, though it means that the camera always gives off some light but I find that helpful at night, it's almost like a very low level night light.

It's also really great to have the option of more than one person having the monitor so my husband and I can both keep an eye on our daughter from our phones or the monitor. Plus it had a built in temperature gauge so we always know what temp the bedroom is. If you look at the review on Mumsnet there's a discount code to buy it through the BT shop, which was the cheapest I saw it.

MariaDingbat · 04/02/2021 10:18

I forgot to say the lullabies are terrible! That's the one downside we found, some other BT monitors play beautiful music, this one sounds tinny and not very good.

Todhairquestion · 04/02/2021 10:20

Another one here who has the bt 6000, I also think the lullabies are awful but DD disagrees and likes to sleep to the first one

Wanderlust20 · 04/02/2021 10:29

@mariadingbat do you find the smart version interferes with your WiFi? I was really torn about getting smart version because I'd read that you can pick up other people's monitors/people can possible hear you because you can't change the frequency on the monitor?

I know I'm probably reading too much into things ha ha but that freaked me out! So I thought maybe better to get one that just has no WiFi if I'm that para (I know, I'm ridiculous but I'm a FTM Smile).

I'd read you should get something that has DECT or the ability to change frequency channels but there doesn't seem to be many (video) monitors with this feature...

MariaDingbat · 04/02/2021 11:18

We haven't noticed any interference with the WiFi so far thankfully and we haven't heard anyone elses feed but none of our neighbors have a baby at the moment so there probably no-one in range. I was a bit worried about people being able to hack into the feed over wi-fi but BT say it's encrypted.

thetinselbadge · 04/02/2021 11:19

BT 6000 is great, would definitely recommend

dixiedo · 04/02/2021 11:59

I have the eufy one too. It's great couldn't be happier.

Peachee · 04/02/2021 12:07

We’ve got a BT monitor and we haven’t had a problem with it.
It’s a good picture and has good night vision, can view it from the app on my phone, has a temp gauge and all sorts of other features but the main thing for me is the parent (and child for that matter) is robust and when I’m fiddling around in the night or my son has taken it and smacked it on the floor it’s survived everything.

Peachee · 04/02/2021 12:08

Parent a child units I meant sorry..

FTEngineerM · 04/02/2021 16:10

Vava on Amazon, honestly it’s bloody Crystal clear. Fab reviews on Amazon and I can see why it’s never let us down. Battery lasts for an eternity too

Wanderlust20 · 04/02/2021 20:05

@mariadingbat thank you, glad it's not just me that worried about being hacked! Smile

Can you point me in the direction of the discount code please? I've done a search but having no luck.

BT 5000, used every day for 18 months, we love it. The night vision is great.

Cressie2 · 04/02/2021 21:07

Everyone I know recommends the BT 6000 but personally, I’m not getting one with WiFi unless I know that it’s very secure. I don’t want anyone being able to hack into your WiFi monitor and would rather a handheld device. The likelihood is low but not going to risk it with a smart device. Would rather get a simpler device which is secure:

We got the BT smart one as well. I can’t vouch for it yet as the baby hasn’t arrived but it looks really good from playing around with it. We got a refurbished second hand one on eBay for £60. it arrived looking completely brand new and packaged as if it had never been used. It’s from a proper company not just a second hand seller and has a years warranty with it so a good deal I think

LifeBeginsNow · 05/02/2021 15:16

Thank you Maria! I'll have a look later and get it.

Just bought the HeimVision Soothe 3 from Amazon. No WiFi connectivity (which I was glad of). It comes with a parent unit with 1080p resolution (high in comparison to some monitors) and you can add up to 4 cameras to the one parent unit if you wished to. An SD card can be inserted for recording and there is 8 lullabies (my DD loves no.3 and the sleepy eyes always come over her). I debated for days over which to buy as a lot of people have BT monitors however I didn't believe the picture quality to be that great, the night vision and day time picture is amazing on the HeimVision and it also has 2-way talk. I would 100% recommend!

I don't have a babysitter radio with a camera yet. My baby has not yet been born, but I have already actively begun to buy everything necessary for him. I already thought about a baby monitor with a camera, but I, too, am still at the stage of choice and reflection. On the Bäst i test website, I found reviews of all baby accessories, including the baby monitor. I read the review; it notes all the pros and cons of this or that radio nanny. You can immediately understand what is better for us. I already know what I want, and this review has significantly reduced my torment. So I think the review on this site will also help you choose.
