Swelling down below?!

Hello,
Not exactly the kind of thread I wanted to make but I am panicking slightly until I can get hold of my midwife tomorrow hopefully.

I am 27 +2 with my 3rd baby, a few weeks ago I noticed why shaving I felt slightly swollen down below. At first it wasn't a bother as I thought extra blood flow can lead to the swelling. However as the last week has pasted the swelling I've noticed now goes round to my perineum & bum also. Then to my horror last night I noticed that the inside of my vagina also feels swollen if I put a finger inside, then I took a mirror to it (big mistake) it looks swollen inside as well. I had a look on Google & have worried myself it could possibly be a prolapse, I have absolutely 0 pain or discomfort other than maybe a bit of pressure around my bum area.

Has anyone else experienced similar? I have been doing my head in about it since last night, I am only 27 & am really freaking out about it.

Hi I think it sounds much more like some sort of skin irritation that's made it all swollen. I think with prolapses you get big bits sticking out?!! 🤦‍♀️ Don't know but I think you should try not to worry tonight and just call the doc first thing to put your mind at rest. You're just lying down sleeping tonight so get done rest then call first thing. It really does sound more like inflammation of those membranes around what is a v sensitive area.

Just looked it up and it says that as pregnancy gets bigger, it can effectively restrict blood supply to that area which leads to harmless swelling. So maybe is just that??

Swelling can be caused by the weight of the baby pressing down on you. It’s usually nothing to worry about. It’s much more likely to be just some swelling, not a prolapse. Definitely phone your midwife and get her to examine you when you next see her to put your mind at rest.

Found the same happening to me.
Especially when i am standing to shave with the mirror. A little scary.
I think it's the pressure of baby.

I had this with our twins. It was all down to pressure from the weight of them, I had horrendous cankles too. Never had the problem with our singletons.

It's worth speaking to the midwife about.

Thank you everyone for replying.

I am glad I am not the only one who's felt this. I have texted the midwife this morning but she hasn't got back to me yet. I am trying not to worry myself over it too much atm.
