Anybody tried a Ewan the Dream Sheep before? Are they worth it?

Any recommendations for similar that doesn't cost £30?!

Waste of time so far for my 7 week old. We went for the Deluxe one and fuck me it's so annoying how it's CONSTANTLY GOING OFF at the slightest noise, but does nothing to settle my baby. And the noises are so tinny and metallic sounding. Awful. I'm sleep deprived so maybe being more sensitive than usual but still.

The Sound Sleeper app, on the other hand, is brilliant. The vacuum cleaner white noise sound sends him right off, you can set timers etc. There's also a 'Listen' mode which I think does the same job as the sheep sensor but I haven't used it personally.

Oh. And it's free. Save your money 😊

I swear by Ewan! Best thing we ever bought. DD (almost 2) still loves it and I'll be buying the deluxe one when baby number 2 is here shortly. I think Lidl sell an owl which is similar but not sure if it was just part of a baby event. Someone gifted it to us but DD settled well with Ewan.. so re gifted it Blush

You can get second hand Ewan's on market place / eBay though.

Baby sleeper app is much better imo. It stays on all night and has a range of sounds. Much louder too.
I have it on my Kindle and on my phone. DS is currently snoozing on me with the vacuum noise going. Added bonus that I always have it with me when we are out.

We had one as a gift, DC hated it as a baby but entertains him for a bit now (7.5m). Just get a white noise app for a quid they play all night, Ewan Is 15 minutes max. You can put the phone on flight mode and leave it in the room then all night.

Didn't work at all for us. We used white noise rain instead on the iPad and that was much better.

We had one and found it quite disruptive for our sleep with switching on and off. Found the mechanisms confusing when sleep deprived/in the dark as we had to scroll through and hold button for different amounts of time. Also didn’t like the sound as much as other ones.
White noise definitely helped with sleep though and also when out in the pram to calm baby down and help to drift off. Sheep was a bit big for pram - we really rate the marpac hush. The sounds are nicer, four clear buttons and easy to attach to cot/travel cot or buggy.

We have used a myhummy with our two children. They are amazing... they are loud and turn on automatically when the baby stirs. My daughter in particular, who was a shocking sleeper due to severe reflux, really benefitted from it. I used to push her around in the buggy with it on when I was desperate to get her to sleep in the day and nothing else would work. At night it definitely helped resettle her too. My son has never seemed to require white noise to help him relax and drop off, but it definitely works when teething.he is a more laid back character generally, so I think that has something to do with it, as he has never fought sleep in the same way she did. But generally white noise is pretty effective with babies so I would invest in one of the toys in the market.

He's a smug bastard. Didn't work

alexio · 31/01/2021 22:09

We've got the Ewan deluxe the one that turns its self on and it's brilliant

Helps baby get to sleep and settle if he cries through the night. Worth the extra money for the deluxe

Cdl84 · 31/01/2021 22:11

White noise did help us, and we tried Ewan first but the noise needs to be constant. We got Avantek white noise machine from amazon, cost about the same as the sheep. Works really well and still use it now he is 18 months old. I got so used to it I had to get one for myself once he moved into his own room.

Latenightreader · 31/01/2021 22:12

I found that the setting that sounded like waves gave me fantastic dreams about Scottish islands... Didn’t help the baby particularly though, and she was scared of it until I worked out how to switch off the light.

Willow4987 · 31/01/2021 22:14

Really depends on your baby. We got one for DS1 as all our nieces and nephews LOVED it

He was not bothered at all

So we reused it for DS2. He adores it so we upgraded up to the new automatic one. He associated the noise turning on with me stroking his back so the automatic one is a winner as I didn’t have to keep going back and turning it on
