Reduced movement advice

Hello

Hope this is the right place to post

I’m 36+4 - have had a very easy pregnancy so far mostly. I did go in for reduced movements at 31 weeks - and ended up back in hospital last night - I hadn’t felt the baby move all day! Everything was fine - baby moving loads - but I couldn’t feel them all!

Because it was my second time coming in they asked the doctor to see me as is their policy - doctor was suggesting I may need to be induced it this happens again.

Also I have suffered with low iron for the last few months - it was shockingly low - been on tablets 3 times a day - not sure they are helping as I still feel like crap!

They took my bloods last night and an iron transfusion has been suggested

Also I went for a scan and they think the baby is quite big and has a big head

Doctor again is suggesting induction soon because of this.

Anyone has similar? It’s my first and I’m the first of my friends so don’t really have anyone to ask for advice from! I’m a bit shocked tbh as I’ve been low risk this whole time and definitely didn’t expect intervention this early

No suggestions but in s similar position. 33 weeks - been in 3 times gor reduced movements, low iron and baby measuring big, especially the head.

You are nearly classed as full term as you are close to 37 weeks. If baby is big they will always recommend induction otherwise it’s increasing chances of a c section.

If you do go down the induction route ask about the different options and if they will leave you between intervention to allow a more natural labour to start.

I had low iron and close to infusion too but held off just! And I was inducted with my first. In some ways with the current pandemic it might be a bonus to be induced

Thanks @Catchingfire123

Helpful info - hoping the iron tablets have helped somewhat - I had a blood test done last night so it will get results back tomorrow see where I’m at 🙏

I was totally freaked out about the thoughts of intervention - i was dead set on going naturally and was sure I had 4 weeks left!

I’m kinda over that now and I’m more in the mind set of I just want them to get the baby out safe and if they think I need an induction next week or so then I shouldn’t argue !

Your right as well - being in lockdown - might be good to have a set date / be able to plan a bit better.

I went through very similar with my first.

I went in multiple times for reduced movement because I couldn't feel baby. Every time, monitor showed lots of movement but I still could not feel it. When I presented twice in final trimester (second time being around 36 weeks), they did exactly the same. Doctor reviewed and I had a scan. They talked about possible induction but also said it was likely to fail and end in c section as wasn't favourable for sweep yet.

In the end, the compromise was that they would wait but to have low threshold for returning if not feeling movement and in that case for induction or section. I fortunately made it to the end and had a normal delivery

Trust your gut and take the intervention if you feel baby could be at risk

Hi, I was induced at 37 weeks for similar reasons. I kept having to go to hospital for reduced movements as I couldn’t feel her move at all, specially the last few weeks, even though the monitor was saying she was fine and moving in there! It was very frustrating! And obviously quite worrying...

Although my DD was the other way around as in she was measuring slightly small with a small head so after all that they offered to induce me at 37 weeks. I agreed as I had to otherwise go everyday for monitoring of movements and with the hospital being a bit far from home and me being a bit stressed about the reduced movements... we thought it was the best option. At the end of the day they are classified as term after 37 weeks and at that point I just wanted her out and safe!

The induction was fine... I did needed the drip which made my contractions pretty painful but it was over soon after the drip went in!

Currently 38 weeks pregnant and I have been feeling the baby move lots this time, so quite a different experience Smile

Yeah I’m starting to think that I’d rather just get the baby out rather than worry for the next 4 weeks - it’s exhausting !!
