Lifting anything heavy won’t harm the baby. The issue is that hormones cause your joints to relax so the danger is that you may injure yourself. Your baby will be fine, symptoms come and go especially once the placenta takes over.

Thank you I really shouldn't Google everything points out miscarriage 🙈

As far as i know there is a small chance of excessive heavy lifting and exertion to cause damage, not to the baby per se but that it could cause your waters to break etc. What I mean is that they don’t only tell you not to lift heavy things in pregnancy to protect your own joints etc, it’s also to protect the pregnancy to some extent.

However you are most likely to do damage if you over exert yourself. If you work at a preschool then you will be use to lifting the children all the time so you are unlikely to hurt yourself as your body is used to that level of lifting. In my first pregnancy I wouldn’t lift a heavy shopping bag but second time round I’m often lifting DD who weighs 14kg! But I’m not worried as I’m used to it.

I wasn’t expecting the heavy object to be a toddler! OP try not to worry, this is totally fine. How do you think women with more than one child would cope if they couldn’t lift up a toddler?

You'll be fine so long as you lift things/kids well.

Load of rubbish this no heavy lifting thing.
I still go in the gym and powerlift, had to lighten the load a bit but I can still squat and deadlift heavier than most non-pregnant women I know, 10+6wk atm.

I agree with @Chelyanne I didn't know I was pregnant until I was 12 weeks, so I'd continued with CrossFit. When I found out I spoke with my midwife who said I was fine to continue.

If you think about people in second, third and forth pregnancies then they’re picking up children a lot and it’s fine. I was carrying my nearly 3 year old until my bump got in the way.

Don't stress.
Heavy lifting is a concern to you as your muscles become spongey you could injure yourself.
Google is terrible - everything leads to the worst.
