Nausea at only 4 weeks??

I'm only 4.5 weeks pregnant. I only found out last Friday.
Already I seem to have the sense of smell of a cocker spaniel, and today I've had awful nausea and tiredness. I don't remember anything this early with my first.
Does the fact I feel like this so early mean it's going to get worse?
I have a severe phobia of vomiting and honestly, I'm not sure if I can go ahead if it ends in vomiting everyday. If it stays like this I can manage. Any advice?

Congratulations.
It will get better once your hormones level out and the placenta takes over. Just hang in there. Good luck

I had nausea before getting a strong bfp, I'd had a faint one the week before but dismissed it as evap line. Like you I hate vomiting, I'd rather feel horrid all day than be sick, managed to hold it in all but once (only had a green tea in me then so not too bad). Smells etc were really bad for weeks and a nasty metal taste in my mouth all the time but now 10+5wk and they're easing off. So nice to be able to cook again without feeling like I need to run to the loo.

Almost 6 weeks here and already on the anti-emetics! I'm also a fellow emetophobe and got through a previous hyperemesis pregnancy. If it becomes unbearable definitely speak to your GP as there are various things they can prescribe and keep going till you get a combination that works for you!

Congratulations on your pregnancy! If you have a severe phobia of vomiting, see if you can talk to your gp and get medicine to prevent it. If you do end up vomiting, remember the nausea will subside immediately after, to get you through it. I hope all goes well for you. Flowers

Thank you! Did your nausea start quite early too then? I'm exactly the same, I would rather feel sick all day long than be sick once x

It's nice to meet someone else with emetophobia! It's debilitating isn't it. How did you manage to get through a HG pregnancy? I'm just not sure I would be able to cope mentally at all. Do you find the tablets help? x

Thank you! I will ring my GP I just worry she'll think I'm pathetic with me being so early on! x

Very early, I wasn't even 4 weeks. It started just during my gym sessions but quickly was an all day thing. It was better for me when I was fasted earlier in the day but after I ate was just awful, I found having a nap really helped. Chicken was the worst for me, hubby was not happy that I stopped doing weekly chicken curry night lol.
Try sticking to cold foods as much as you can then the smells aren't as bad and it's a bit easier to keep down. Vanilla icecream was the best thing for me when I was pregnant with our twin girls. Thankfully I've not suffered with sickness too much after the 1st trimester so I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

You'll get through it. If it's too bad the GP will help you.

I'm not going to lie, it was awful for the first few weeks and I went to a very dark place. Fortunately I was only sick a few times, but the nausea was unbearable and I had really bad water aversion. I genuinely think having emetophobia meant that I was able to stop myself being sick (which of course meant the nausea was worse as there was no relief). After I was hospitalised I was put on a combination of stronger anti-emetics which basically stopped the nausea for the most part and I didn't vomit again whilst I was taking them. You do have to push for the stronger meds, but you may find you don't need them anyway. Stress, tiredness and dehydration made my symptoms worse, so try and stay as relaxed and rested as possible (easier said than done when you're living your worst nightmare!) It will pass though and I've actually found I'm a lot better around sick than I used to be. They do say that doing the thing you're afraid of tends to help with curing your phobia!

I've got to admit I'm in a bad place right now. I'm not even sure I can/want to go ahead. I'm just thinking about taking the 2 tablets and this being over.:

Honestly I had the same thoughts running through my head with my first. Ultimately I wanted a child so pushed through and managed to find a combination of anti-emetics that worked for me.

As a first point of call I suggest you call your GP and tell them how your feeling. Saying you're at the stage you're considering terminating an otherwise wanted pregnancy should be enough to persuade them to try you on first line anti-emetics. It may take a few tries to work out what combination works for you but there are a variety to choose from.

There is still the option to end the pregnancy if it gets too much, in fact knowing that option was open to me meant I was willing to try more things before taking that choice and I'm glad I held out, but it would be completely understandable if you felt you couldn't.
