Don't plan a big Christmas lunch??!! My first was due on the 22nd but didn't make his appearance until the 30th. Congratulations anyway, and welcome to mumsnet. I wish it had been here when I had my first, or that I'd had it during any of my pregnancies. It's a fantastic resource and support. Hope you enjoy it here (I have no doubts you will.)!

Hey there! My ds was due 15th Dec and I was eventually induced on 28th! I spent the whole of Christmas Day not moving a muscle to try and prevent me going into labour! Didn't want a son called Noel!

Hi Vimptohead and welcome to mumsnet. I am from Leeds too!! My DD was born on 17th December (she will be 2 this time) and we went to my mums for Xmas lunch as I was too knackered.
As you are due on Xmas day - I agree not to do a big lunch or get soeone else to make it. Most of it wil alsways freeze if needs be for when you get home. You could have a late Xmas dinner then. (do you live on your own/with partner etc)? Don't rush around just take it easy opening pressies, watching telly

vimptohead · 27/10/2004 13:55

such an unlucky date, living with partner at the minute, just shopping around for cot bedding etc as going to start decorating 8th nov when other half is booked off work. getting excited now, but its hard as have been really poorly and am now having problems sleeping/walking/basically existing due to huuuuge bump an constant kicks in the ribs!

Yep - sounds about right. lovely isn't it?!!

If I can help you with anything to save you money let me know. I have plenty you could borrow. I have a lovely bedding set (Winnie the Pooh) cot duvet and curtains & tie backs in yellow with light blue and green in it as well as pictures of Pooh and Piglet. I have a monitor you could borrow and anything else you are short of if I can help you you are welcome to it.

(I say borrow as I haven't made up my mind whether to have another yet) but for the amount of time you use it is is worth borrowing. they grow out of things so fast

vimptohead · 27/10/2004 14:04

thanks helsi - greatly appreciated, where abouts in leeds r u?

Janos · 27/10/2004 14:25

Just think vimptohead it's a great reason to avoid Christmas shopping

Sorry to hear you've been feeling poorly.

Congratulations, BTW

wellsie · 27/10/2004 14:35

vimtohead, DS was due Boxing day last year but appeared on New Years Day. It was the best excuse for not visiting relatives all over the country - "Sorry I'm pregnant!" - Also, a brilliant excuse for not cooking Xmas lunch and doing all the god awful shopping!!!!

The kicking, ahhhh I remember it well. I went to the GP's once cos' I was convinced DS had broken my rib!

Anyway, it's all worth it and I hope you enjoy Mumsnet. It's been great for me.
Take care
Wellsie

Hi Vimptohead. How cool- a Christmas baby. My sister was born on Christmas Eve and she loved it. It's such a lovely time to have a Bday - and she used to get bigger 'combined' pressies.

I'm due on 1 December. There are loads of us due in December, you'd be very welcome on the due in December thread. It's nice to share the experience with people going through the same experience at the same time. You'll love Mumsnet, it's really addictive

Posey · 27/10/2004 21:44

Ds was due Christmas Day 2 years ago. I also have a dd who was 5 at the time. Top tip, get your Christmas dinner from M&S. We got everything ready done (including all the veg!). Because all the family live a long way away and I really didn't want to have anyone staying with us that year I bravely (stupidly) said dh should stay with dd if I went into labour on Christmas Eve night so she could have her stocking etc as normal. After that we had various friends on standby to look after dd.
In the event, we had a lovely quiet uneventful day, spent Boxing Day walking in London's St. James's Park, my parents arrived the next day and ds made his appearance on the 29th.

Hope all goes well for you.

yingers74 · 27/10/2004 21:50

Hey vimptohead, am an xmas eve baby myself, apparently was the first baby to get a pressie from santa on the ward, so that was good!

One piece of advice, try if poss always to give two pressies, as growing up getting one joint pressie was always a bit upsetting as it made me realise that xmas was more important than my birthday. People always said happy xmas followed by oh and happy birthday too!!! As a result I don't really bother to celebrate my birthday now, i just enjoy xmas!

mumbojumbo · 27/10/2004 21:53

Hi Vimptohead

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

DS1 was due on 27th December and eventually arrived on 30th (2001). Spent Christmas Day feeling very, very fat and unable to eat much dinner (no room!). Was in hospital over new year - which was a bit of a shame. New Years Day was so busy with visiting relatives.

Enjoy the remainder of your pregnancy and welcome to mumsnet.

Tommy · 27/10/2004 23:34

My first was due on 31st Dec and then the consultant I saw brought my dates forward by a week (i.e. to Xmas Day) Little bu**er didn't come out until 10th Jan so DH and I spent all Xmas sitting around waiting and not drinking! I would suggest that you should just relax and enjoy Christmas and let everyone look after you! Good luck

rydercup · 28/10/2004 08:51

Hi - totally agree with Tommy. My DS was due Christmas Eve - didn't come until 5 January in the end! Just get on with things and get into the festive spirit - although christmas Day in the hospital was a great experience for some of my friends - everybody is really in the festive spirit!!
