Definitely worth it although they take up most of the bed!

Hi OP,

I too have bad hip pain and struggle to stay comfy in bed for long.
I bought a dream genie pillow but found it a bit firm, I might try it again when my bump gets bigger and needs support. I was a bit wary of buying any more pregnancy pillows after this but I’m sure others will have good advice on what pregnancy pillows have worked for them.

What I have found that helps my hips is a thin cushion/pillow between my legs. I have also put 2 single duvets folded in half underneath the fitted sheet to help with cushioning.
I wear a ‘dream belt’ which has memory foam cushions on each side and I pull the belt around on whichever hip I’m lying on so the memory foam is cushioning the hip and I find this helps. It’s all quite a faff, rearranging as I keep moving from side to side, but I haven’t found anything else that helps so far!
You could also refer yourself for physio and they might be able to give you exercises to help too.
Oh and I also have a normal pillow behind my back to help keep me on my side.
Good luck and congratulations on your pregnancy!

I was incredibly uncomfortable carrying twins as I'm very petite - I didn't bother buying one as they can be so expensive and have enough to buy! I just used a normal pillow or cushion and wedged that between my legs and under bump and it was fine

Thank you ladies I didn't get one with my last 2 but I'm a bit older now and things are aching lol so think I may invest in one xxx

Waste of money. Neither me or my partner slept when I tried one, they’re so big and uncomfortable. I put a normal pillow between my knees now, it’s not perfect but it helps.

YukoandHiro · 27/01/2021 07:55

Definitely worth it

LittlePetal82 · 27/01/2021 08:34

I got mine when it was discounted (I think on the bounty website) so I didn't pay that much for it.

Phie04 · 27/01/2021 08:51

I'm currently using a 'U' shaped one. It does help a lot to have the pillow between your knees as it levels them out a bit with your hips. Keeping knees together makes the pain awful for me! It's just got worse the bigger I get also. May I ask how far along you are?

I must admit they don't completely make the pain vanish but at 33 weeks I need all the sleep I can get, in between waking up from baby kicking and needing a wee the pillow lets me sleep a little longer because its so comfortable.

Icedteaplease · 27/01/2021 08:56

I had a BBHugme pillow which was eye-wateringly expensive but honestly worth it's weight in gold for how much better I slept. I still use it now as a BF support in bed and as a sitting aid for my son.

Jasmine9835 · 27/01/2021 09:15

I didn’t want to fork out loads on a pillow so I bought one of the V shaped pillows, think I got it on offer from Argos for about 8pounds. I normally sleep with one bit between my legs and either hug the other part or wedge it behind my back depending on which way I want to sleep

ranoutofquinoaandprosecco · 27/01/2021 09:38

Totally worth it I still use mine and the kids are 7 and 10! Sometimes TK Maxx has them on offer or Asda George who are both doing deliveries I think at the moment.

DrCindyPops · 27/01/2021 09:40

I had a u shaped one too it was huge but worth it for me!
It helped the pain in my hips having it between my legs and it kind of forced me on to my side so I didn't worry I would wake up having been sleeping on my back.
I couldn't have done without it in the last couple of months of pregnancy.

FTM91 · 27/01/2021 11:13

I've got a BBhugme as well. It is expensive but SO comfy, and you can use it for sitting up in bed, supporting you on the sofa etc. it just seems to mould into the exact shape I need it to be to be comfortable. I think it will be useful for breastfeeding too once baby arrives.

DollyP23 · 27/01/2021 11:30

Another one who loved the bb hug me. Expensive but so worth it!

NinaMimi · 27/01/2021 13:41

I don’t think they’re worth it. I regret paying for such an expensive one. Pillows work much better for me. I’ve been trying to sleep the night with it but end up waking up. I’ve found a pillow between my legs and at my back does the job better and would have been much cheaper.
They seem to work for some people but not me.

NinaMimi · 27/01/2021 13:42

I should have added I’ve got the dreamgenii

MintGreenLife · 27/01/2021 14:56

I've just ordered one from Asda, it's huge and only £20 :)
