Just that really, we are not looking to spend £100's on a mamaRoo to be honest, but something that functions well and has good cushioning support for newborn would be good. I've looked at a few but there are so many mixed reviews I want to know what MN thinks!

Thank you x

Sorry I don’t have any advice but placemarking to see what people say. I have also wondered about the cushioning, some of the mats look quite thin in the pictures especially if put on hard floors.

Joie wish bouncer is brilliant and cheap

We had cheap bouncers we got in the asda baby event for our twins, they did the job and lasted well enough. Play mat, we had a giant one from mammas and pampas so we could fit them both on it, down side no dangle bits so more for tummy time. You can always pop a toddler duvet under a thinner ond for more padding.

We have the Chicco Hoopla and I think it's great value for money, really well made and comfortable. My LO is quite fussy (though he is only 10 weeks) and won't go down much but he will sit in his bouncer most days for anywhere between 20 minutes to an hour which is a lot for him. He won't go down on a playmat so can't recommend one of those unfortunately.

I’m interested in this too! I’m on the lookout for a vibrating one ideally as they were brilliant for my first two babies. I like the look of the Joie one posted above.

For a bouncer, I highly recommend getting a Baby Bjorn. We had a few (all loaned to us) and this was by far the best - really comfy design and material and the baby could still fit in it safely a good few months after he outgrew some of the cheaper ones.

@mariebaby3 I have this one and it vibrates

We have I think an earlier version of that Joie one and it's great. Plays music and vibrates. Definitely a comfier looking seat than cheaper seats too. We just got a playmat when one of the baby stores was closing down - can't remember which. It's not something you need for a newborn and isn't really worth putting a great deal of thought into imo.

I would go for the biggest playmat you can find, with a decent level of padding. It’s easier when they start rolling, especially if you have wood floors.

Second the baby bjorn bouncer! get second hand though as they are expensive new. The cover comes off and can be washed and the nest thing is that it folds flat - we stored ours under the sofa when it wasn't being used. Honestly one of the best baby items we had.

I was just coming in to say exactly what the pp did. The Baby Bjorn is great, but do look second hand. Bouncers are used for such a short period.
