Irresistible outfit... but what size?

If you have come across the most irresistible and adorable outfit for your baby-to-be, but the pricing is a little on the extravagant side, which size would you opt to buy to gain the maximum value from?

Newborn would look sooo cute and it would be a perfect 'going home' outfit, but will it only last about 1 wear before it's outgrown? Is it the same for 0-3 months size too really?

Sorry I've just got into the mood for buying for baby and trying to restrain myself but still be excited at the same time.

I tend to have bigger babies, still get decent use out of 0-3 so i would go with that

Newborn babies can be very sicky and any outfit soon after birth can be at risk of being ruined with possibly black sicky stuff

Same problem here OP!

I've set myself a rule, any outfits I buy should be 3-6 or 6-9 (depending on the season that the outfit is right for)

I've read lots on here and heard from friends that its easiest to keep them in vests/baby grows for the first 3 months and not to bother with outfits.

I have a 4 month old and have had most use out of 3-6 month clothing. My dd was in newborn for maybe 4 weeks, 0-1 for 2 weeks and 0-3 for 6 weeks.

I’m currently pregnant with number 3 and have learnt from my previous 2 pregnancies not to bother buying outfits before 3months. They either don’t get worn because they grow too quickly or they get ruined from either a sicky explosion or a poop explosion. This little one will live in vests and sleep suits for the first 3 months of his life :)

Oh gosh yes, do not bother with actual 'outfits'. Very hard to get them on, they get vomited on, they are often uncomfortable and nothing is sweeter than soft vests, baby grows and cardigans which are easy to put on and wash.

They outgrow clothes super fast, we didn't get 3 month out of anything in the 1st years sizes.
If it's something you are willing to keep hold of and use in future then splash out, you could always sell on if not.

Nearly every gift of clothes we’ve been given has been 3-6 months. Whilst going through the clothes we kept from DD1, I wondered why we had so many 3-6 clothes. As the presents for DD2 appeared, I remembered. I think everyone assumes others will get 0-3 but I haven’t found that at all.

DD1 fitted into newborn for about 2 weeks max. DD2 was in newborn for nearer a month. I wouldn’t buy too much in that size but I knew I was never going to have a tiny baby (unless premature).

As PPs have said, vests and baby grows for the first few months. Just so comfy for them. I still like having DD2 in a baby grow and she’s 4m old.

Im in such a dilema will baby clothes and what size to get. My last was 8.9lb andaot of newborn are for babies upto 7lb or 8lb so some stuff id bought for baby didnt even go on him! Ive bought this ones coming home outfit in upto 1 month as im assuming i'll be having a similar sized baby. Have a couple of newborn things incase shes small but everything else i have bought is upto 1 month and then 0-3 months. For a cute outfit that costs a bit more I defo wouldnt go smaller then 0-3. Things are defo cuter on smaller babies too so you need to judge how kinda cute you want it to be on lol!

It depends what it is.ifnirs something like a dress, they will last for far longer than something with trousers.

Personally I loved dressing my babies in outfits and found them far easier (epecially dresses) than fiddling with poppers
