Hello - Im fairly early on but i have a spinal injury (due to cauda equina syndrome) and Not sure if its all connected. I am in agony - getting up out of bed is fucking traumatic - my partner has been helping me up but we are both sleep deprived. I have. a big pillow i sleep with between my legs and sit on a gym bal , dont lift anytihng heav etc but honestly, i cant cope. Its like a burning spasm and no postion i put my leg in alleviates it - it just kinda burns out. Any one any tips ? Death is not an option apparntly. I thought i had a highpain tolerance after CES but apparantly not.

I'm sorry you're in such pain, I'd say maybe consider seeing an osteopath, and since you're pregnant, one with pregnancy related experience might be useful? The sooner you get a diagnosis the better, as then a treatment plan can be put in place for you. All the best

I'd call your midwife about it and see if you can be referred to a specialist. I had a spinal op due to CES, thankfully didn't have the pains you did in early pregnancy (currently 34 wks) but I still was referred to an anaesthetist and monitored by an obstetrician because of it. Hopefully someone can give you some pregnancy friendly painkillers or sort out the problemThanks

Thanks Charlotte that's great advice. I'm seeing the physio in hospital tomorrow. She needs to cure me or I'll chuck myself down the stairs 🥺. X good luck with your pregnancy x

I have been prescribed codiene for spd by my gp

Definitely speak to your midwife and make sure she understands how much pain you’re in. I was in a similar situation in my last pregnancy due to a neuromuscular disease. There are things they can do/offer/advise as you absolutely cannot continue throughout your pregnancy in the pain you are in.

Sending gentle hugs and pregnancy safe morphene!

Also, evaluate whether the different things actually help. I was using a ball. Turned out it was making things much worse! Same with pillow between my legs. All those things that are supposed to help (and probably do help for the majority IF you have SPD and no other complicating conditions)

Thinking of you. My OH was diagnosed with CES last year when I was about 20 weeks pregnant. He kept falling over and was in agony but was not taken seriously by doctors. Until he suddenly couldn't wee at all and was rushed to theatre for spinal surgery. It must be so difficult for you being pregnant on top of everything else xx

I was in hell. Not to scare you but two years on I'm still a state... So my advice is probably rubbish 🙈

I found ice pack on the front and hot water bottle on thre back helpful.

Accept whatever pain relief you can get.

See an osteopath - physio won't really do much hands on work.

Rest as much as you can.
