Induction Of Labour 42 weeks

I'm in such a state worrying and so upset my body hasn't laboured naturally I'm going to be induced tomorrow at 42 weeks.
P. S just for info I will not be refusing the induction.
Can anyone give me some positive stories and help eliminate my worries.
At my 41 week appt she said my cervix was favourable about 1.5cm and 1-2cm dilated but nothing has happened since.
With my first I was induced due to RFM at 39+5 and the pessary overstimulated me but got me enough to break my waters but I was waiting for a bed on delivery to break my waters for 3 days!!!!
My main concerns are :
Waiting so long for a bed on delivery again.
Baby being huge
Having to have a c section
My hospital are also allowing no visitors other than birth partner only during labour and then they have to leave so this just tops it all off.
I'm an emotional wreck just wish my body had laboured naturally before so late :-(

I was induced and had a really positive experience, I felt the same as you and could only find horror stories on the internet. From pessary to birth was only six hours (luckily they kept me in as they wanted to monitor baby’s heartbeat due to historical issues with this but pre covid they used to let you go home for 24hrs if you wanted so that may be worth asking?)

Baby was bang on 50th percentile (I was expecting a big baby as bump was measuring 90th percentile and so overdue!) and healthy. They also let me use the bath/water birth which I didn’t think would be allowed when induced. Hope it all goes ok!

If you've had a vaginal birth already, your chances of induction being successful are much higher. I got to 42 weeks with DS1 and was very emotional about how my body had "failed" to go into labour by itself, but the actual induction was fine, the first pessary put me into labour without any other interventions.

Talk to them about your worries, they'll hopefully be able to reassure you a bit about the wait for labour ward, and will be used to managing women feeling alone during induction. Good luck!

I’m pretty anti sweep but I gave in and had one at 41+6 last time. Was a last ditch pre induction effort😂

I’d gone in for my pre induction check and I was 2-3cm and favourable so I accepted a sweep.

At 5pm I was eating dominos and was very much anticipating an induction the following morning. No twinges nothing.

By midnight I had a 7lb 15oz baby in my arms.

With my first baby I was 40+12 and no signs baby was coming - cervix closed, hard, posterior etc. I was induced with the gel and baby born in the water within 3 hours of first contraction - my dream birth. You will be fine!

@HarrietM87 omg this has given me so much happiness and hope. I am 42 weeks tomorrow and have my induction. I really really hope I have a similar situation to yours. Thank you for posting
