Changing from water birth to elective C section?!! 35 weeks

Hey all,

I'm 35 weeks pregnant, and up until now I told my midwife that I wanted a water birth, or as I'm low risk, be in the birthing suite for a natural birth.

After doing research on the risks associated with vaginal birth vs elective c section, I don't want a VB anymore!!!! I'm aware that c sections do carry risks, but I'm much more comfortable with these than those with a vaginal birth!!!

I should have done this much earlier, but here I am.
Anybody else has been in my situation?!! Any advice??

My first was a keillands forcep delivery, and whilst it was a tough labour and birth, I would choose it over a c-section any day (I haven’t had a section but have many family members who have and recovery is not quick)

I went on to have an easy water birth with my second and I’m now hoping for another water birth for my current pregnancy.

Thanks for your replies! After calming the nerves, talking to family and doing further research, I'll stick with my initial choice of a water/birthing suite option. I'll focus on things I can actually control, such as pelvic floor exercise. And as for the rest, well, in God we trust.

Darklava - definitely true that people who've had it rough will speak up more than those who didn't!

@laura2109 I'm 33 and 8 weeks out from a forceps delivery that was almost an EMCS. I'm very glad it wasn't a c-section. My pelvic floor does still need some work but with regular pelvic floor exercises it's improving lots. I was driving after a week and after 2 weeks was able to walk for an hour with the buggy: I am pretty sure I wouldn't have been able to do either of those things if it had been a c-section.

Do your pelvic floor exercises, though ;-)
