Reporting reduced movement before 28 weeks

Hi everyone,

I'm 25 weeks.

I read a lot with regards to reporting reduced movement before 28 weeks... my question is if I rang triage would they say/do anything with regards to it?

My midwife at 24 week app said still report if worried

I feel up the stairs yesterday and it really
Jolted me. At the time I thought "god that was a heavy jolt"

But since then baby hasn't moved anywhere near to what she normally would (she's been very active for many many weeks,3rd baby, felt her at 16 weeks) and then for around 5/6 weeks now she's been very active)

I understand before a certain gestation they don't seem to worry as much?

I feel like the movement is different too, not the full on movement she would normally make but more hiccup type movements instead.

I am probably absolutely overthinking it.

What would anyone else do in this situation? Or does anyone have any experiences?

It Even made me have a bad dream last night about my baby coming early and so that's obviously scared the life out of me! 🤦🏽‍♀️

Can you tell I'm a worrier?! 🤦🏽‍♀️

Any reduced movements after 22 weeks need to be reported straight away where I am, they'd rather check you over and everything be fine than you ignore it xx

I reported reduced movements at 24 weeks and they got me in to check the heartbeat. I believe from 26ish weeks they do the full monitoring. Definitely ring if you’re worried - they’d rather you went in and all was ok than didn’t and there was something wrong. Xx

I would phone them. Put your mind at rest.

I was concerned about reduced movements at about the same time. They took me in and did a check on the baby.
If your concerned it is definitely worth a call to triage if for no other reason then to put your mind at rest.

Glad to find this thread. I'm 23w, and have been feeling loads of movement from 18w. I'm finding it really hard to know when to worry as all advice I've been given (I'm in Spain, but NHS/Tommy's web too) only refers to feeling nothing by 24w or reduced movements after 24w. Noone tells you what do if you're less than 24w and notice a reduction after established movements.

There's been a couple of times this week that I've been on the verge of going to A&E, then just when I make the decision she kicks off a 4-hour aerobics session 🙄

One thing that I've been wondering about - when they check you over, I can only imagine 2 possible outcomes. Either everything's fine, or the worst has already happened. Are there any circumstances in which anything can actually be done to help if there's a problem so early on in pregnancy (eg 23w)?

Yes Iv also wondered the same although reduced movement doesn't mean no movement so although baby is ok I guess it could indicate many many things.

It could be a side symptom of something else if that makes sense.

Iv waited this morning out... she's definitely moving so not overly worried at the moment...x

Baby should have settled into a pattern by 28 weeks but if you’re worried before then definitely go check. I went in at 24 weeks for reduced movements and although everything was fine they said I did the right thing. Never leave it overnight if you’re at all concerned, it’s always better to be checked out and it be fine then to leave it and regret it

I know I was silly to leave it!

In triage now so if anything hopefully the monitoring will give peace of mind as we all know the stress anxiety can cause and it's absolutely better to be safe than sorry....although the doors labelled "delivery suite" are freaking me out and it's making it all real ( even though it's my 3rd!) it's been 7 years and feels so surreal this time!
