Hi all,

I’m 18 weeks and have an anterior placenta . Just wondering if anyone else with the same can advise when they first felt any kind of movement ? Thanks

Following as I also have an anterior placenta and was hoping to start feeling movements soon

YougoFargo · 20/01/2021 20:23

I would say 22-23 weeks. And it was like butterflies really. A few weeks later and I was seeing the movement! Never had any issues with kicks or punches taking me by surprise which was very pleasant Grin

Reeva1988 · 20/01/2021 20:27

@YougoFargo thanks for the reply! Another lady I know said 22 weeks too so sounds about right Smile

Same! About 22 weeks. From everything I read I thought I would never feel lots and would have reduced movements worries but the baby is currently moving so much you can see it physically and it's winding me🤣 32 weeks x

RustyCat · 20/01/2021 20:35

I'm currently pregnant with twins 23+3 and have two anterior placentas.

I felt movement first at 22+5 and it's been on and off since then. I can only feel the moment quite low down but it's quite clearly kicks/punches 🤣

Reeva1988 · 20/01/2021 20:36

Thanks guys. Made me feel a lot better as all you hear about it how you’ll feel hardly anything and I was a bit disheartened! X

About 22 weeks I think. Now I'm nearly full term and I feel the movements everywhere but at first it was only on the sides of my bump

I started feeling occasional flutters at 19 weeks, and then took a few more weeks before I could feel more distinct movements.
Now 29 weeks and getting booted in the ribs constantly and you can see kicks through my clothes.

invinovvv · 20/01/2021 20:45

I didn't feel anything I was certain was kicks until 24 weeks and to be honest right up until birth would feel maybe 1 or 2 kicks a day, so very little. But got used to that being my normal. I was also reading these threads about kicks same as you right up until 24 weeks as it felt so odd having no signs of movement before then!

twoticksvix · 20/01/2021 20:50

I had twins and two anterior placentas. Little bits of movement around 22/23 weeks but more definite kicks/punches from 25 weeks onwards, rolls and hiccups! Oh how I miss feeling that!

Lowkeyloopy · 20/01/2021 20:50

So I’m not actually pregnant but spotted the name of this thread while scrolling and was intrigued as my friend (24 weeks) has anterior placenta too. She didn’t feel anything until close to the end of her 23rd week and was getting very anxious about it. Particularly as people kept commenting that her bump seemed small. Even though her check up at 20 weeks said the baby was absolutely fine (and a bit chubby if anything!), she was worried. But everything is absolutely fine and baby is moving 3-4 times a day now - it started off as a very light fluttering/rippling feeling. I hope that reassures those wondering!

I have an anterior placenta and started feeling movement around 18 weeks. I don’t think that’s standard for AP though, I was very surprised when the sonographer said it was there considering the amount of movement I’ve felt. I’ve just turned 22 weeks and now feeling much more.

Moo678 · 20/01/2021 21:25

I’ve got an anterior placenta had one in last pregnancy too. I started feeling flutters quite early - about 14 wks but this is my 4th baby. I’m 20wks now and yesterday my husband felt the baby move for the first time! I think you will start to feel things soon x

Babydust13 · 20/01/2021 22:05

I have one and I've just started feeling kicks and I'm 21 weeks

Whatagreytdoggo · 20/01/2021 22:46

20 weeks, but was subtle and is my 2nd pregnancy.

Grognonne · 20/01/2021 23:26

About 17 weeks for flutters, then around 20 weeks for light movement. Now 23 weeks and feel the odd kick and funny squeezes (not sure how to describe it really!).

nocturnalke · 21/01/2021 02:49

Hey I had anterior placenta and I first felt tiny movements around 24/25 weeks. As the weeks progressed I never felt kicks but I could see her moving inside of me where my stomach would poke out. It was amazing. My baby didn't move much at all during pregnancy, but she is a very chilled baby so makes sense now! Also whenever the midwives listened to her heartbeat they said she was kicking but I could never feel it!

NinaMimi · 21/01/2021 03:27

I have one too. I’m 20 weeks though I’ve felt sensations for quite a while now but more of the “popping” or “fluttering” sensations. Not felt anything I’d describe as kicks but I don’t have anything to compare this to as it’s my first.

Yummymummy2020 · 21/01/2021 05:41

I’m 22 weeks and barely feel anything! My last was anterior too and it was between now and 24 weeks then I started!

Terracottasaur · 21/01/2021 06:03

About 21 weeks I think

Jangirl03 · 21/01/2021 06:13

22/23 weeks but I struggled with feeling the baby and was in repeatedly for reduced movements as I just couldn’t feel him. After 30 weeks it was better x

PeggyHill · 21/01/2021 06:19

About 18 weeks but that was kicks in places where my placenta wasn't, if that makes sense, and it wasn't my first baby so I knew what I was feeling.

Parkandride · 21/01/2021 06:55

22 weeks here too. 5 weeks on they're not much more violent either which is probably a good thing!
Its a worry waiting for them I know, but they're lovely when you get them

BlondePotter · 21/01/2021 16:06

I was 20 weeks on Monday and I started feeling internal nudges and twitches when sat down in the evening/lunch and relaxed, more so if I've had a wee so it has a bit more room to stretch maybe.
Can't wait for DH to start feeling it too
