Hi everyone,
I found out I was expecting on the 3rd of Jan, all was fine until the 15th. I had some light pink spotting, went to the toilet and passed a large clot -half the size of my palm. I bled for around 3-4hours. The next day I had creamy white discharge and have had the odd bit of spotting since. I've repeated my tests and in my opinion they are getting lighter, I would be coming up for 8 weeks. Spoken with my gp and all she has said is to keep testing until Friday when she will call me. I've had mc in the past and I bled for around 2 weeks, shouldn't I be bleeding more if this was a mc? Gp has not offered blood tests or scan. Thanks for reading

Hi. I'm pretty sure once you get past a certain point tests do get lighter due to something called the hook effect. There is too much hcg and the test line gets overwhelmed. There is some thing about diluting your pee half with water and it should give you a darker line. Try Google hook effect. Also, if you are nearly 8 week your local epu should scan you. I would bipass the gp and go straught to epu

EPAU will not see you without a GP referral. You can rick up at A&E, there is no guarantee they will scan you the same day but they can refer you to epau.
If tests are coming up lighter it may well be a mc. If tests remain positive they may scan you to see what's going on. Some GP's are a bit rubbish with mc, I had one tell me I should be thankful I wasn't further along when I had my 1st mc at 12wk, I moved surgeries after that. So getting a second opinion may be a good idea but be prepared for a long wait if you go to A&E.
Good luck

Hook effect does exist but isn't that common I don't think. I was still getting positive test results at 19 weeks. It's hard to tell - I had a MC at 8 wks that had only developed to 5 and only passed a couple of smallish clots. I bled for a few days - it wasn't weeks though and it was fairly light. My MC at 9 weeks was much worse as that had developed further with loads of big clots and a lot of blood over 2-3 weeks. I don't think you can know for sure without having a scan but once the MCs had started no-one in NHS was interested in scanning me - they only wanted to know if I had a negative test. I was "lucky" that I had the scans before the MCs started in both cases so knew what was going on.
