Needing a new bra before 12 weeks?

Hello all,

I'm in need of advice. I am only 9+4 but I'm already in need of a new bra. My boobs have gotten much bigger quickly and are very painful, especially at night. None of my normal bras feel comfortable anymore. I've been looking online for a supportive maternity bra, but I'm not sure what to buy. I feel funny buying something new so early, and especially a nursing bra.

What did others do at this stage? Any recommendations would be very appreciated, especially as I can't go to shops and try things on. I'm normally a 34C or 34D, fyi.

Thanks!

Hi!
Don’t worry, all our bodies change at different rates! I was exactly the same and just received a maternity/nursing bra that has saved my life! (At least my boobs think so!) I bought a bravado bra, was about £26 on ASOS but honestly so comfortable and still feels supportive!

Can't suggest what to look for, but yes I remember going up sizes very very early in my first pregnancy. (measured AA before and eventually afterwards... very funny being directed to the teenage lines when shopping for new bras with a toddler!)

Yep my boobs went huge very quickly and then they pretty much stayed the same size. I bought cheap Asda/ primark bras in a bigger size. You could buy nursing bras now if you wanted, they just don’t have underwire so you may feel unsupported.

I think mine went up a size fairly early, then have changed again since so personally I’m glad I’ve only purchased cheap primark type bras. I’m now happiest in gym/yoga type bras from primark with a bit of stretch in them. I’m smaller though, have gone from a B to a D so you may want more support than this.

Thanks everyone, this is reassuring! Don't know why I am stressed by this, every website says 'don't buy anything until 12 weeks' - but I am just so uncomfortable. I think I'd prefer non underwire, just something stretchy and supportive. I'll look on asos as can't go shopping at primark etc. Thanks!

The best thing to do is to buy something that fits well.

I'm pregnant with dc3 and every pregnancy I've gone from a 32c/d to a 32e. Then post birth I go up to a G! 3m after I start shrinking again 🙄

It's a pain but it's more comfortable to accept the cost implications. Brastop is a good website for cheap but nice bras. I have 2 that fit at any 1 time during pregnancy.

Just buy something that isn't underwired - it doesn't have to be maternity while you're pregnant. Just needs to be comfy. In my first pregnancy I bought loads of maternity bras but I could easily have just got a sports bra and a bra with no underwire.

I've changed back size and cup size, and this week (24 weeks) had to give in and buy a new bra. Up till now I'd been surviving on a bra extender which meant I didn't have to go out and spend £££ on new bras (I have an unusual size so no Primark/Asda cheapies for me unfortunately!). It worked quite well for the last 14ish weeks so you could try that if you didn't want to buy whole new bras before probably changing size again?

Ooh, get a Molke! They’re not the prettiest but oh so supportive, and also stretchy so they cover a few sizes which is handy as you’re likely to grow more. They can also be used for nursing. I was a 32H pre pregnancy, now 20 weeks and measuring at 34K and have had to size up in the band in my Molke but still so comfy and so supported. Don’t think I’ll ever wear a wired bra again!

My boobs grew pretty quickly but as they are the first place I lose and gain weight I already had a drawer full of alternative bras.
When I started to outgrow them at about 18 weeks I switched to bralets - m & s do some DD+ ones, I was about a 30-32 DD-E at the time I wore their size 8
They lasted me until about 32+ weeks when I bought some stretchy nursing /maternity bras from asda they are so comfy! They come in s/m/l - small was fine for me. I am using them now as night /not leaving the house nursing bras.
Once my supply settled down at about 6 weeks I bought myself two lovely Freya nursing bras.

I was hesitant about buying bras in pregnancy that were a single size as I didn't want to grow out of them too quickly or to not fit into them out of pregnancy.
