Constant anxiety about if I'm in labour

I'm 36+2 weeks pregnant & the last , maybe 2 weeks , every time something happens im convinced I'm gonna go into labour

LO has turned so is applying pressure to everywhere south of my belly button , I'm constantly on the loo , braxton hicks are getting stronger & sometimes more painful
Especially at night

Every time I stand up , I'm expecting water to be gushing out of me 😂

Anxiety is increased when OH is at work too

I think because I'm now on maternity , my head is not as occupied so I'm overthinking everything

How do I relax & stop been simply , a hypochondriac ?

Is this your first?

I think it’s only natural you have anxiety about when it’s going to start and we all look for signs and are convinced it’s labour starting.

It almost always starts gradually, especially if your first baby and it could go on for days so you would have more than enough time to get in touch with your partner and if not the hospital are always on the end of the phone to give advice.

I’m 35 weeks with my 3rd and feel the same as you that waters will just break, I’m at home with my children and OH is at work etc but from experience I know there’s no point stressing as it will happen when it happens and the more relaxed I am, the easier I will be able to cope, especially when the contractions kick in properly.

Have a look at the positive birth company. Labour and birth is nothing to be afraid of, it’s what we are made to do as women lol Smile

I don’t have any advice but just wanted to say I’m 37 weeks, a FTM and anxious too! I’m worried about any little thing I do now setting me off into Labour 😂
I think starting maternity leave has been the thing that’s started me off too, it’s the home straight now.
Deep breaths, we can do this right?!?

The only things I will say are:

It will probably be the single most painful experience of your life, you won’t miss it.

It will last days.

When you know, you know.

You're just eager to meet your little one. :)

Don’t worry you’ll know when it’s happening. That indescribable pain - there’s no getting away from it! All worth it in the end though

@Piccalily19
I think we're both in the same boat

I've done the kitchen & bathroom today , taking regular rests & it seems to have triggered braxton hicks/ period pains
I've put a heat pad on my back to help the ache
It's things like this that send my mind into overdrive 😂

I remember this feeling well, I was convinced I was going to go early then ended up being induced at 40+10!! Try and relax and go with the flow, do things you enjoy doing and try not to think about labour, as others have said when you know you know! Most labour starts gradually over days rather than with waters just going x

I also felt this way from about 37 weeks ended up being induced and having baby at 42 weeks! It is really hard to relax, and I got myself in a right state being on that high alert level for 5 weeks. Just keep busy (batch cooking , cleaning, baking, having baths, going for walks etc) and keep reminding yourself of the facts that it's unlikely your waters will go until you are in established labour and very very unlikely that it will all be so quick that your partner won't make it home from work. Good luck!
