Painful Menstrual Cramp and sharp pin like pains in cervix

I am 35 weeks and I have been suffering with menstrual cramps at regular intervals about 3 times a day. Now to make my life more uncomfortable, I know have what can only be described as pin like pains or someone with a knitting needle trying to break out.

Is this what Braxton Hicks feels like? or have I just become overally paranoid. This is my first!!

Please help, thanks

sounds normal to me. the cramps could be BHs, some women do find them uncomfortable and the pains in the cevix are apparently baby touching or bouncing on it
I'm 40+2 today and have been getting this since about 37 weeks. has your mw checked which way baby is lying yet and whether they're settling into your pelvis?
i've been taking paracetamol for the crampy pains. so long as there's no bleeding my mw said not to worry and its a good sign that your body is getting itself ready for the big event

I have a midwide appointment on Tuesday, so I will ask her then. The last time I spoke to her the baby had the head down, but it is a wriggler and moves constantly, so really not too sure at all.

I am hoping that it is a good sign for me too as after going to my NCT classes and seeing the hospital at last - I am not as confident as I thought I was.

Thanks though and good luck

I'm 40+6 and have been getting the knitting needle sensation on-and-off for over a week. Babs has been 2/5 to 2/5 engaged for a few weeks now, so I guess it's just him/her pressing down against the cervix more as he/she moves further down.

Well I have been to my mid wife and quite frankly she is useless and advised me to go to the hospital if I was worried. I'm a first time mum of course I'm worried. If I sneeze too hard I get concerned!! She never actually told me what it was - so I am waiting to go for a scan as the popping sensation may have been my waters breaking and so they are checking to make sure I have enough fluid. The knitting needle pains are the baby moving downwards as per the nice midwife at the hospital so pleased about that and I am now 4/5 engaged. Bot scary seeing as I am not due for another 4weeks. But would be nice to see baby.
