Exercise bike

I'm 9 weeks pregnant.

I had a MC in June last year and was (and still am) very traumatised by this. To the point where I'm paranoid it will happen again and the anxiety is at an almost unbearable point lately.

I have anxiety anyway, and would go on the exercise bike or for a walk to help ease it. Walking doesn't seem to help much lately so I was thinking of going back on the bike (haven't done this since November pre pregnancy)

I'm not in the best shape of my life and probably need to shift a good 8lb. I wouldn't be doing it for that purpose though, mostly to listen to music and escape my anxiety.

Would this harm the baby? As I don't do it enough and regular and I'm scared of causing another MC

Would you do it? DH says go for it but he's an avid fitness fan so it wouldn't phase him. I worry as I don't do it regularly my body will be shocked or something (idk I'm just really anxious and over thinking)

Exercise does not cause miscarriage, and is in fact recommended in pregnancy so if it will help your anxiety/mental health then I 100% would go for it.

@meltedgalaxy a bike would be fine! I would avoid impact exercise like running and things like that if you aren't used to it, but a bike will be absolutely fine!!! X

@meltedgalaxy congratulations on your pregnancy by the way :) xx

I have a lot more weight to lose than you but have recently found out I am pregnant. I use my exercise bike for 20 minutes a day. Regular exercise will not cause miscarriage. Listen to your body and don't overexert yourself.

Shouldn't cause any harm.
I would go on it for 15 minute stunts then rest for 15 minutes before getting on again.
I get numb bum after 15mins. Beginning exercise in pregnancy is perfectly safe, a good tip is to do the breathlessness test. So long as you can talk during/after a session then intensity is not too high. I'm continuing to powerlift, today I have deadlifts, military press and some arm/shoulder isolation work. I've ditched my lifting belt and around 25% off my max lifts for reps and feel fine doing it. Currently over 8wk.

I carried on with exercise throughout my last pregnancy except spinning which became uncomfortable when bump started to grow. Exercise is good for you and will make for an easier birth. There are lots of resources out there and it's wise to adapt as you grow. Carry on I say!
