So i googled it obviously and can see should be ready between 32 and 35 weeks.
But now i find myself awake at night thinking i am so not ready. Like will come 35 weeks and i will be rushing. But also have the feeling if i am all set at 32 weeks, it could be 2 months before she s here.
We have bought everything mostly but it's piled up boxes and unwashed baby clothes/linens. Nothing at all unpacked.
At the same time i feel stupid doing anything now (28w4) because she s not coming anytime soon.

So just wanted to know when you actually got ready? Your own experience

When did you wash clothes?
Built cot (ours is next2me so will be attached to our bed) ?
Built pram?
Put car seat in place?
Had hospital bag packed?

What would YOU recommend based on experience?

Thank you :)

Never bothered washing clothes.

Nappies start with size 1, size 0 is preemie/low birth weight really.

I wouldn't put the car seat in the car too early, if you have an accident with it in the car you'll have to replace it/claim through insurance. OTOH it can be tricky to fit the base etc in when you have a big bump in the way - maybe get DH to do it! But once you're full term I would put the base in, then you can click the seat in when it's time to go to hospital. Leave seat in car until you're ready to go home and then get DH to bring it up.

I would recommend thoroughly reading the manual and having a play with it in the house - loosening and tightening straps, especially around a teddy/doll to practice, raising and lowering the headrest or trying out the process of changing the strap height unless it's really complicated. Removing and reinserting any inserts and familiarising yourself with when they should be taken out :)

Pram similar, useful to have an idea how all the bits and functions work.

Cot takes up a bit too much space to have standing around made up IME.

After the anomaly scan I started a list of what I needed and researched the options. I set up online baskets with various websites and every now and then put in an order.
We wanted to buy as much as possible second hand so it was a case of keeping an eye on various buying sites for the right items for the right price and location.
We wanted to do cloth nappies so spent some time researching them and buying what is needed.
I had a summer baby so washed the clothes on good drying weekends

Around 28 weeks I started packing my bag but more that it was helpful to have somewhere to put all the things I needed. At about 34 - 35 weeks I went through the bag and made a more concerted effort into packing everything and ensuring I had everything. I had 3 small bags, a small Wheely weekend bag for my stuff, a rucksack for baby and my partner (just change of underwear, t shirt, deodorant and wash cloth) and a bag for life for snacks and drinks. I wanted to be able to carry everything myself in case my partner couldn't go in with me at first, I could have fit it all in a single bag but I would have struggled to carry it by myself especially as I knew I would be in at least 3 days.

I had my last day at work at 38+5 (Friday), we packed up my office and turned it into the nursery on the Saturday and she was born on the Sunday!
