I know this question can appear extremely dumb but I haven't found any answer online. If my husband had quite a bit of wine tonight and we had sex can the alcohol in the sperm affect the baby? Please if it's a dumb question don't insult me ShockHmm
I just had this doubt tonight 🤨

Nope! Otherwise no one-night-stands or moments of madness would ever result in healthy babies, and there are absolutely LOADS of them around Grin

Alcohol consumption can be an issue for a bloke if you're both struggling to conceive, but doing it drunk is not a problem otherwise.

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 13/01/2021 00:43

Ok, think about it logically. How is his sperm going to get anywhere near the baby?

Congratulations on the baby 💐

NoSquirrels · 13/01/2021 00:45

Ah! I misunderstood so ignore my comment - and again, nope! if you're already pregnant. What he's had to drink is not going to affect a baby you're already pregnant with.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 13/01/2021 00:57

In what way do you think it could harm? How do you think it would come into contact with the baby?

Aquamarine1029 · 13/01/2021 01:02

No. Confused

thisismetrying · 13/01/2021 01:10

I'm trying to be kind but seriously? You can't honestly think this!

SquirtleSquad · 13/01/2021 01:12

No, have fun kids Wine

B1rthis · 13/01/2021 01:13

Alcohol used to be safer to drink than water many many many generations ago.
It's not affected any of our ancestors.
Hiccup.

EatsFartsAndLeaves · 13/01/2021 01:17

No. The alcohol is in him, not in you.

Ticklemynickel · 13/01/2021 03:25

Really? How would the alcohol get into his sperm?

DramaAlpaca · 13/01/2021 03:32

Nope. Stop worrying Smile

GretaSheen · 13/01/2021 03:34

Oh bless. You know how you got pregnant, right?

You are safe OP!

yvanka · 13/01/2021 03:54

Sorry OP but this did make me chuckle! Grin

SheldonesqueIsUnwell · 13/01/2021 04:01

Crikey.

If that were the case most women would have pickled innards so I would say not.

Greenbks · 13/01/2021 04:03

It depends. No if you’re pregnant already

Potentially if you are trying to get pregnant and he has a drinking problem. Drugs, alcohol, bad lifestyle etc. Can affect the sperm (mobility, shape etc) and usually takes around 3 months for the sperm to regenerate. It’s the same with our eggs. If you have had miscarriages in the past and they’ve found no known cause then leading a healthy lifestyle until the sperm & eggs regenerate is advised.

TooManyKidsSendHelp · 13/01/2021 04:07

Do you mean that you are already pregnant and concerned about his "drunk" sperm affected this baby?

Or do you mean that you are trying to get pregnant?

The answer to the first is no, definitely not.

The answer to the second is technically yes. It is advisable for both of you to abstain from alcohol whilst TTC as it can affect fertility. In reality though I doubt it makes much difference - most adults in the West drink alcohol at least occassionally and plenty of people have healthy babies.

Mustbe3ormorecharacters · 13/01/2021 04:46

How on earth do you think alcohol could be in his sperm?

1forAll74 · 13/01/2021 05:21

It's not a dumb question to ask, people have all sorts of imaginary fears, but no, you shouldn't worry about this issue that you asked about.

ApolloandDaphne · 13/01/2021 06:10

We conceived DD2 after a boozy Christmas night out. There was no negative effect from this whatsoever and she is now a healthy adult.
