Hi everyone, I had my dating scan recently and I was worried my baby is a bit big. Is 74mm relatively normal crl for 12.6 baby?
Sorry if it sounds ridiculous, I just became hyper aware of it after lady taking the scan/and my sisters commented it’s a big baby.

They date from your CRL so that measurement would equate to dating you at 12+6. If it was longer you’d be dated further along. Does that make sense ? My baby was 80mm at 13+6. It’s an automatic calculation

Looks like baby measures a few days ahead probably 13 and a half weeks.
Nothing to worry about, either you’re 4 or 5 more days pregnant than you though or just a bigger baby

Also literally the sonographer being out just slightly on where they mark the point could be the difference of a few mm

Sorry I should have said baby is estimated to be 13+3 ( or maybe +2, can’t remember). But this would place the conception date earlier than I actually conceived. It’s weird but I know the earliest date I could have conceived and it puts me at 12+6. Not 13+.

So I get why 74mm corresponds to that 13+2 or +3, but that’s not actually my babies gestational age.

I really wouldn’t worry. I’ve had 4 scans that put me 7 days head meaning my conception date would have been CD7 which seems unlikely. Like PP poster said sonographers are measuring to the mm. It’s also not an exact science. In one scan I was measured different dates +/- 2/3 days as baby was moving around a lot, then apparently a bit scrunched up etc.

It really isn’t going to make any difference. Is there a reason you’re so concerned ?

Are you working from the day baby was conceived or the day of your last period ? That could make a difference x

ivfbeenbusy · 11/01/2021 19:17

Both my pregnancies the due date was brought forward by 5 days because the baby measured bigger than last period date would suggest - it's totally normal

Izzymay · 11/01/2021 19:26

@Marshy86

I’m referring to date of conception.

@ivfbeenbusy, thanks for sharing that, it does calm me down.
