Do pregnancy tests have to be with FMU?

Hopefully this is the right thread!

When did you all get your BFPs? Does it have to be FMU?

Just as, I’m testing 14dpo exactly not before, which is this weekend. I get up early-ish around 7am to feed/walk our dog and DH doesn’t get home from his overtime shift until 3pm

I’m someone who needs a glass of water near enough after waking up so going without wouldn’t be nice! And I couldn’t hold a pee that long

And I like DH to be present (not while I’m weeing!) for the test, it’s our 3rd month and I feel hopeful.

But yes, if I am pregnant - it would show up no matter what time taken surely? And it wouldn’t matter if I had a glass or two of water?

I took mine at about 4pm. It was faint but definitely there.

If you're 14dpo it'll show up at any time but you can also keep your FMU in a sealed container and dip the test later in the day.

I’m pretty sure once your period is due it doesn’t have to be FMU. I recall it saying on my Clear Blue tests it could be any time of day once period is due.

Or you could maybe do your FMU and save it in a sterilised pot, I’m not sure if this would be okay left for that many hours though !

Fmu is a myth.

@anniebu where is that table from?

First wee of the day isn’t the recommended anymore according to recent studies and going by what my pregnancy tests have been like, afternoon or evening is best. Don’t dilute it so much for example have a litre before you test, but no need to dehydrate yourself either!

Good luck!

No they absolutely don’t have to be! Especially as you are not testing early.
Even when I was [testing early], my tests were always darker in the afternoon!

From day period due it's generally accepted that you can test any time (that's what the majority of test instructions say) - it's only really if you are taking the test early that they recommend FMU as that's the most concentrated

Thank you everyone!

This reassured me quite a bit and I feel the pressure off to do it first thing. Hopefully it is a BFP
