FRER line fading (or just thinner)?

Good morning

This is my first ever mumsnet post so please go easy on me.

As a bit of background, we first started trying to conceive in Jan 2018. I fell pregnant in Feb 2018 but lost it at 5 weeks. I fell pregnant again in June 2018 but lost it at 6 weeks. I fell pregnant again in October 2018 and that resulted in my gorgeous 18 month old son.

In June this year I fell pregnant without really trying. Due to my history of miscarriages I arranged an early scan at 7 weeks which showed a lovely heartbeat. I had another at 10 weeks where I was told that the baby had died at just over 8 weeks. I had a medical miscarriage which I found emotionally so so much worse than the previous two and I bled for a long time afterwards.

Fast forward to 2021 and I had a positive test at 11dpo (very faint on frer). I tested again at 14dpo and the line was much stronger.
I tested again today at 17dpo and I think the line is fading. I am really trying not to over analyse, but with my history it is very hard not to. I asked my husband and he said “2 lines means pregnant”. Maybe I should just listen to him, but any thoughts (positive or negative) would be gratefully received.

Now to try to work out how to upload a photo!

Ah, as a new member I can’t post a photo for 48 hours. Never mind

As I can now post pictures. Here they are.

I have also done a clear blue digital (this afternoon and not with FMU and it said 1-2 weeks.

It’s not looking good is it?

The numbers on the FRERs are dpo.

Thank you

So sorry to hear about your miscarriages.

The line progression looks fine.

Digital are notoriously inaccurate. There's nothing to do but wait this out, hard as that is.

I hope it works out for you Flowers

I'm sorry for your losses.
I think it is as strong as it gets.
Digital test not with the fmu is not very helpful and I would retest in a couple of days but in the morning. I hope this one brings you a healthy baby in due time. ❤

I’m sorry to hear of your losses.

Tbh those lines, while not obviously hugely stronger, are quite bold lines anyway so I think it would be hard to distinguish by that point?

They certainly don’t look to be getting fainter.

However, I’ve been in your shoes and had things go both ways so I really do understand your concern.

Can you pay for a private reassurance scan at 6-7 weeks to look for a heartbeat? The only other thing would be to test your HCG levels, and I don’t think you’d get that done on the nhs at the moment.

Just watch out for pain, especially in shoulder tips, weird bleeding or fainting - these could be signs of an ectopic and would need immediate attention.

I really hope you get some reassurance soon.

Thank you all.

I have a very kind consultant that will scan me from 7 weeks, but that feels a very long way off at the moment.

I know that I shouldn’t read too much from the lines, but I also know that with my son the line at 14dpo had already switched so that the test was darker than the control. There is also no chance that I am out with my dates as I temp and use opks.

I know that I have to wait it out, it is just the most excruciating thing to be in this position once again.

The mine looks good on FRER but I would be concerned that clearblue is still saying 1-2 weeks at 19DPO?

ivfbeenbusy · 12/01/2021 16:44

*line

Sazzle12345 · 12/01/2021 16:50

I agree. At 19dpo it really should be 2-3 as the hcg threshold really isn’t that high.

If I’m being optimistic, I would say that it wasn’t fmu so maybe wasn’t the most accurate, but I hadn’t had gallons to drink either so I still would have expected a 2-3 is all was well.

I have massive anxiety in early pregnancy, and I know that I’m not being particularly rational, but I also want to be realistic so as not to get my hopes up once again.

I can understand your anxiety - I had several miscarriages and ectopics.
Maybe your consultant would agree to do a hcg blood test to see where your levels are at?
