Sleep suits

Looking for some sleep suits & I'm not sure which tog I need ?

I live in a Victorian property , it can get cold during the night
Our heating system sometimes reads as 15 degrees in our room ( where baby will be sleeping ) & I'm thinking it will be cold as hell as the bad weather continues

Can anyone suggest which tog I'll need or even some brands ?

Tia

Are you talking about sleepsuits, the baby grow type things or sleeping bags for babies?

Ksi91 · 07/01/2021 15:22

@Mylittlesandwich sleep bags.
I've just realised I've called them sleep suits 😂

That is cold!
My baby's room (also my room) is saying 18 degrees at night now and it's freezing.
He's wearing a 2.5tog sleep sack and a vest and baby gro. He's 13 months though.
I thought you couldn't use sleep suits for newborns or very small babies? Could be wrong tho!

Haha, easy done. I like this wee tool from the gro company. It takes into account the room temp, baby's age and weight and should come up with a suitable option.

When DS was new we got 2.5 tog ones from the supermarket because he was growing so fast. Now he's older I only use grobags because they seem to be longer and he's a very long baby.

My babies were in Gro-bags. There is a calculator thing on their website that should help you. gro.co.uk/product/grobag-baby-sleep-bag/

I'm a firm believer in them, my babies all slept brilliantly in them (in a Victorian house too).

Depends entirely on the size of the baby. DS was big at birth and so went straight into sleeping bags. You can get swaddles and growsnugs now which are suitable for smaller babies.

@mylittlesandiwch Ah, that will be good to know for any future DCs as I love sleepbags but didn't start using them until 6 months.
DS kicks all blankets off so they are very much needed.

Getting anything higher than 2.5 tog can be quite hard, as your recommended to keep the room between 18-22 for a baby.

For a newborn they'll likely be swaddled for the first while anyway, so better to do light layers under that than a sleep bag straight away.

Sainsbury's do a 3.5 tog one which is more like a sleep suit though which would be great as they get older and want movement!

Thank you everyone for the advice

Time to get the bank card out & start buying ☺️☺️
