Asthma in pregnancy

Hi all!

I have very mild asthma, in fact so mild that I really only need a Ventolin inhaler if I have a chest infection or bad cold.

I'm 31 weeks pregnant and for last two weeks I've been having wheezing and gurgling in my throat, as well as a bit of 'rattling' feeling occasionally in my back. This is mainly at night time but sometimes I notice it during the day too. I've been taking puffs of inhaler and this does help which makes me think it's a bit of a flare up of asthma. Just feels odd given how mild my asthma is and I'm wondering has anyone experienced similar?

I'm obvs paranoid enough about covid and haven't been out anywhere for 3 weeks now plus don't have any covid type symptoms, it's just the wheezing really.

Thanks for reading 😄hoping someone can share similar!

Yes I had the same, it's because your lungs start to get a bit squashed and extra fluids in your body too. Speak to your midwife if you're uncertain or if it's becoming more frequent/ stinger symptoms, they advised me that using the inhaler a couple of times a day was fine.

Hi OP

My asthma is under control too but this time of year is a classic time for it to pop us with the damp air, humidity in our homes etc.

Lately it doesn't help that all my organs are squashed so the chest feels heavy! 31+2

Thanks @YoBeaches @serialplanner that's reassuring!! I've only really taken inhaler a couple of times a day, try to keep it for before bedtime. Might just ring the midwife to run it passed them tomorrow, thank you!

It's not distressing just more the annoying wheezing when trying to sleep!! And the covid paranoia is real! 😆
