Stroller suitable from birth?

Does anyone have any recommendations for a stroller suitable from birth? I already have a car seat, and with my previous little one I found the clunky travel system too bulky, and he hated lying down flat and so the bassinet was a complete waste of time. I also have a diddy car, so for practical reasons thinking a stroller is a better option this time... but there are SO MANY out there... Any recommendations would be so appreciated! Thanks x

Aren't newborns supposed to be lying down flat for health reasons?
I don't think it's much about what they prefer but more for their health...
FTM so i bought the bassinet as that's all i have been told/read.

But i have tried in shop a bugaboo that only had a seat fully reclining with a nest for newborn. So no extra bassinet.
Can't remember which one exactly though...

Bugaboo bee might be what you are thinking off.
I have a babyzen yoyo which is teensy, light, and fits in the back of a mini. It can actually be folded so small it can be taken on planes as hand luggage. There is a baby nest for a newborn or I think it now comes with a bassinet option too. It’s not cheap but I find it much more convienant than all these big bulky travel systems

I have used both the Maclaren Techno XT and the Out n About Nipper 360. Both of which may have moved on, it's been a while since I needed a pushchair. I really liked both. The maclarens fold long and thin. The nipper folds flat and is really easy to fold.

Oops I meant the Babyjogger city not the Nipper. Nipper is good but baby jogger was better.

I used a BabyJogger city mini with a Phil and Teds cocoon from birth. I already had the cocoon, it fitted the bjcm really well. This was 9 years ago though!

The Nuna mixx doesn't require a bassinet to be lie flat for birth so you can use the base model without the extras from day 1. You can get an insert to go in the uppababy Cruz which can also adjust the stroller to be suitable from birth. With both, baby would need to be strapped in while in use though

Chicco Ohlala Light Stroller

I was quite suprised the pushchair I’ve brought is big but fits in my little car. I’ve brought the mama and papas ocarro and the pushchair fits in the boot of my car (ford ka) and with the parcel shelf off. It might fit with the parcel shelf but I only checked quickly as it’s currently stored at my mums house.
It lies flat too! So I just won’t use the bassinet if I have to use my car.

Thanks all for the recs! Super helpful, although some a little pricey for me although look fab...
Thanks for link @SunnySideUp2020 he used to scream like nothing you have ever heard, I think he probably went in it ok for the first week and then I had to basically carry him everywhere for the early months as you could not put him down flat, so buying the travel system ended up being a bit of a waste. Hoping for an 'easier' baby this time (Wishful thinking I am sure!) Grin

I used a Stokke Scoot with a Softbag insert with my third, and he loved it. He was a May baby, and the airflow was super nice. On the other hand, I didn't like the center of grsvity when the pram parent-faced, mainly when getting over curbs.

Anything that lays flat + a good cocoon will work, and certainly do think that newborns cannot go into a bucket-type (ergonomic/L-shaped) seat just so (here's an article about those), but you will need a wedged insert to make the lay flat. Quinny does offer a cocoon with such wedge - and you can fit it into other brands' strollers as well, I'd say.

Pinktruffle · 06/04/2021 18:06

I have a Stokke Xplory and have used the wedge with my son since he was newborn. Stokke say it is suitable but not for long periods of time - we only really go out for walks due to lockdown or to the docs so this was never an issue. I didnt want to get the bassinet as I had researched and knew the wedge was ok also the bassinet is only used for such a short amount of time and we have little to no storage at home so I dont know what I would do with it once he had outgrown it.

If we have a second baby, I'll likely do the same thing as it's worked well.

If you are looking for something cheap and lightweight then the Chicco London is an umbrella fold stroller suitable from birth. We were given one and it has had so much use over the last 3 years.

Chelyanne · 06/04/2021 18:17

We're getting one of these. We had the double for our twins and it was fab, we got the thick fleece footmuffs for it so it was great for all seasons.
