Hey

So with the news of lockdown again and working in a early years setting I have to work I have 2 children both in different school I can't get my daughter to her school which is 5 miles away because my sister would usually take her and can't now and I don't drive. My boss has given me a day to sort it He's also told me I can't get furlough pay because I'm not available to work I have no idea what to do I'm sat up crying I'm worrying about baby and stress I'm under I'm only 14 weeks and I'm trying to keep my emotions at bay but it's so hard. 😢

Furlough does cover those who are looking after children if their school has closed. See below. It also lists out how you may be able to request parental leave or time of for a dependent.

Take her to where she needs to go in a taxi? Xx

OhBaublesBaubles · 04/01/2021 22:27

Not ideal... But.... At my friend's school a 5/6yr old caught a racing to the school every morning, mum was single and a police officer.

OhBaublesBaubles · 04/01/2021 22:27

Racing = taxi

OhBaublesBaubles · 04/01/2021 22:28

Contact her school tomorrow to ask for help/suggestions.

Mylasmummy2102 · 04/01/2021 22:31

It would cost me £15 a day just feel so hopeless I understand he needs staff but my kids come first which he doesn't seem to get!

Thanks for you advice x

Childcare is a reason you can be furloughed. But of course your employer needs to be willing to do so.

I hate to use a 'non-official' source, but it's getting late!!!

Subordinateclause · 04/01/2021 22:37

Why can your sister not take her? Can she not be your childcare bubble?

AliceinBunniland · 04/01/2021 22:41

Do you have a partner? What about children's father - can he help?

elldog6 · 04/01/2021 22:43

@physicskate don't worry, I linked the same info but from Citizen's Advice up above Smile

Mylasmummy2102 · 04/01/2021 22:43

Her children won't be attending school so she doesn't want to have to drive out there. My youngest daughters school is 4 mins walk from me so it's fine. My eldest dad has said he can't help as his gf doesn't want them mixing house holds even tho she is allowed. And my partner works longs hours and is a key worker

Your sisters a bitch

AliceinBunniland · 05/01/2021 11:12

@OhBaublesBaubles

Your sisters a bitch
I don't think that's fair

It's not the sister's responsibility to take OP's kids to school every day

Mylasmummy2102 · 05/01/2021 11:33

@OhBaublesBaubles

That was in called for my sister works at a school at lunch time so her boys can only go to school for 2 hours! I don't expect her to drive to the school and back 4 times a day that's ridiculous!!

I hope you find a solution OP

Mylasmummy2102 · 05/01/2021 16:53

Thank you all I've managed to sort it the council are giving her free transport on the bus during lockdown as I'm a key worker and I'm working around school hours so! Feel a lot better now thanks for listening! Xxx

Fantastic that it's sorted!! Very glad you were able to find (what sounds like) an excellent solution!!

OhBaublesBaubles · 05/01/2021 18:06

I still think your sister's a bitch Grin in our family this would not be tolerated and we do everything to help each other in dire circumstances.
