Is there such thing as too active in the womb?

First pregnancy, 18 weeks along. I've had some bleeding complications, so this poor little one has already had 7 scans. 3 by my obstetrician, 4 by various doctors trying to assess the bleeding issues. At every scan, regardless of who's conducting it, there are recurring comments of "my goodness, this is an active one", "the baby is moving so much we might have to give it a few minutes to calm down so we can get more accurate measurements", "you're lucky you have a tilted uterus, otherwise you'd be feeling extremely strong kicks already", "active baby", "naughty baby, try to stay still" etc. etc.

My DH and I are starting to worry that our future DC may be too active? Is that a thing?

Asking as its consistent its healthy.

Any change to movement at all should be investigated. Whether that slower movement or faster movement get it check.
But as you’ve had these comments consistently I’d say perfectly fine.

When I had my scans for my DD I got lots of comments about her not wanting to play ball- she just turn the opposite way to where they were looking every time 🤭

Hahaha thanks @PriceEmUp! And is your DD a regularly active child now? Or does she have extreme energy?

Our little one looks like it's in a constant boxing match.

I mentioned this to my MiL and she sympathised saying my DH (as a baby) arrived into the world extremely alert, extremely over-active and never ever slept. So maybe this is genetic...

It sounds fine to me. Better too active than the opposite, but I think they look for consistency. My DS2 was a wriggler in utero and just the same when he came out. I didn't know what hit me as DS2 wasn't like that at all. Sounds like your little one is healthy and active, which is a very good thing.

@Growingyou Not really she’s pretty mellow. Loves to sit and watch the telly. She was a very quiet newborn and she slept through from weeks old so I wouldn’t worry too much about what they’re up to in there now 🤭

We have just got her a step and slide soft play and it’s when she’s going up and down that she has little hyper moments but they’re nice hyper moments 😂

It all sounds perfectly normal! It took 20 minutes to get 1 measurement on mine at my 20 week scan because she wouldn't stay still.

Both of my kids they have said this! DS1 is now a teenager and mostly horizontal. DS2 never stops, but he's also 2 so it's perfectly age appropriate!

I got this all the time with DC1 at every scan. "My what an active one".

I regret to tell you he was exactly the same as a baby (and still is as a 6yo). We used to call him "the Duracell bunny baby" as he would just go and go and go until he collapsed from exhaustion. He has never been a good sleeper, but he at least doesn't keep me up all night any more.

Thanks so much for your replies and experiences. So good to know others have had similar :-)
