30 weeks advice needed

Hello everyone,

I’ve got 10 weeks to go and just starting to panic about what I do and don’t need.

So far I’ve got:

Pram, car seat, Snuzpod, Angel Care bath seat, Tommee Tippee prep machine, steriliser and 11 bottles, 3 pots of formula, Ergo baby carrier, jumperoo, door bouncer, muslins x 14. I’ve got quite a lot of outfits and baby grows and the nursery is done also (cot, wardrobe, chest of drawers and nursing chair).

I am planning on breast feeding and doing some formula too when needed so will get a manual breast pump. Also know I need to get nappies, monitor, high chair, swaddles, white noise machine, health care kit, toiletries..

Can you think of anything I’m missing that you’d recommend?

How many baby grows did you have for each age? How many muslins? We have quite a big washing machine so would rather do bigger loads as opposed to washing everyday..

Thank you Smile

Well done to you! I'm just over 29 weeks and don't seem to be anywhere near as organised.
I've found the Boots App helpful and worked my way through the "headings" under Baby and Child.

Started buying size 2 nappies and wipes on every shop so we build up a good supply but still to get moses basket, formula (just in case), muslins.......
I'll keep watching this post for tips too :)

Im assuming this is your first child, i was like this with ny first baby and this time round im like meh lol. You seem to have all essentials you need for a new born. You dont need a monitor really for a few months baby wont be leaving you or a highchair for a few months either they wont use this till they start weaning either. Have you got a moses basket or easy to move around crib type thing as well as your snuzpod just to move from room to room with you.

Between what I had bought and what everyone else bought me my baby was sorted out for clothes for his first year of life tbh alot he didnt even wear. We did end up using and buying alot of baby grows and vests. They get stained so easy and look very grubby quickly esp the whites and light colours tbh I was buying alot of them throughout the first year. Have loads of muslins they are so handy to protect your clothes and babies.

Seems like you have everything very much sorted - don’t get too much stuff too soon, just causes clutter. Eg you don’t need a high chair for several months. Perhaps consider a hakaa instead of a manual pump would be my only extra piece of advice. You got this.

TenThousandSpoons0 · 04/01/2021 04:18

Actually another thought some sort of reclining bouncer chair. Can keep it simple though - we use the one I sat in myself 35 years ago!!

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 04/01/2021 04:23

🤣 OP I think you have everything you need. I'm 37 weeks and don't have anywhere near as much as you. Don't stress, you can buy stuff you need when they baby gets here. Amazon prime is your friend.

Nitflux · 04/01/2021 04:40

I’m 30 weeks and have bought five babygros so far, so I think you’re doing great! I have a shit ton of stuff in online baskets but haven’t pulled the trigger yet. So indecisive. Well done, you, for being so organised. Best of luck for the next 10 weeks!

firsttimepregnant24 · 04/01/2021 07:40

Thank you for your responses! I don't feel organised whatsoever so that's good to know Smile. Yes first time mum hence clueless haha!

I'll look to get a bouncer then and lots more muslins and baby grows Smile.

I've heard from other mums - Amazon Prime!

I'm telling myself anything I don't have I can have the next day xx

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 04/01/2021 09:38

Baby towels, blankets, cotton pads or water wipes, changing bag, cleaning brush for bottles, dummies (just incase), nappy cream, changing mat (if you want one), bibs, sleeping bags (if you are using them. I love them), non bio washing powder, stuff you will need for your hospital bag, thermometer, snot sucker (which is as disgusting as it sounds, but handy to have), imfacol.

Jot stuff you necessarily need right now, or maybe not even at all, but if you want to get as much as possible before the baby comes.

firsttimepregnant24 · 04/01/2021 09:55

@Iminaglasscaseofemotion thank you! Definitely some bits I'll add to my list Smile

Can anyone recommend good places to buy baby grows? I'm in tier 4 so I'm limited to supermarkets or online.

I mainy got mine from supermarkets. Next ones were good the last time I was using them so I have a few of them, but they are quite expensive and they grow out of them fast.

parsnipsnotsprouts · 04/01/2021 13:52

Swaddles or swaddle pods, I also find my sleepyhead invaluable, lots of spare sheets for the bottom of the crib. They often pee and spit up a lot. If you do bottle feed you need about 40 bibs. My little one soaks everything in sight. Star wrap is very useful for the car seat and pram as you don't have to be getting them into coats etc to go outdoors. Dummies. They just seem to disappear. We started off with 6 and we're down to one 5 weeks in. If you're using formula you need pots to measure the milk into. A drying rack for bottles is also a good idea. I'd also recommend getting yourself some of the ready pour formula with the teats you just screw on for the first few days or week even when you'll be very tired. Also you need to get yourself some non scented pads for the post partum bleeding and plenty of paracetamol for the after pains.

Terracottasaur · 04/01/2021 13:58

More muslins! I have 25 and it still doesn’t seem like enough (my baby has bad reflux and we can easily go through 12 in a day...)

You won’t need a high chair for months so don’t worry about that yet.

parsnipsnotsprouts · 04/01/2021 13:58

You'll prob need more baby gros and vests than you think preferably with integrated scratch mitts. On a bad day my little one can go through 4-5 outfit changes. Try to get zip up ones for night time changes or some bundler night dresses ( they do boys ones too) so you're not battling poppers in the small hours.

firsttimepregnant24 · 04/01/2021 14:24

Thank you everyone for all your suggestions, I think I am in full nesting mode now and just want everything done. I've written myself a list and will get it ticked off next few weeks so I can relax Smile

@Terracottasaur I definitely need more, they just seem expensive for a piece of fabric. I'll keep an eye out for some on offer and aim to have maybe 30?

@parsnipsnotsprouts have you got any recommendations for ones with mits attached? I need to look back at what I've got but not sure if mine have got them or not.. I'm aiming to have 15+ of 0-3 and 3-6, less of newborn and then if I have a tiny baby I'll have to send my family out on a supermarket run!

OP your arnt clueless your pretty on the ball! Was just pointing out the contrast from how i was with my first like yourself to this time im no where near as organised. Ive bought one wee outfit for baby to come home in when i found out it was a girl and thats it 🙈 good luck with baby if they came now you're practically sorted! Likes of h&m, sainsburys are good for baby grows next too but a bit pricier!

parsnipsnotsprouts · 04/01/2021 16:03

Next all the way. I've bought the girls versions of these. They're really reasonably priced as work out £4 a suit and wash well. www.next.co.uk/style/st531357/141300#141300 I expected them to be really plain given the price but they're actually prettier than some of the more expensive ones I bought from next.
0-3 are huge on my baby. She's not participating small either. They do an up to a month size which I have a lot of. She was 7lb 1. She's about 9lb now and still wearing her up to a month now. I think we're going to get a good couple more weeks out of them.
