Sleep bags or swaddle?

Hey all, are sleep bags suitable from newborn or would swaddling be wiser? I’m seeing so many conflicting things. If so what tog do you think would be suitable for March/April? Thanks in advance- I’m clueless 🙈

I've used sleeping bags with DS since he was 3 days old. He HATED being swaddled as hated having his arms restricted but some babies love it and feel secure.

I personally prefer sleeping bags as there is no chance of them accidentally coming loose.

Tog wise, it depends on the temperature of the room they are sleeping in. It's recommended the room be between 16-20 degrees (18 is optimal but I find that DS's hands are freezing at this temp.

He was born in June and we used 1 tog grow bags. He's now in a 2.5 tog sleeping bag as it's cooler. This site will give you an idea - gro.co.uk/what-to-wear/

Our little girl loves being in her purflo swaddle bag, keeps her arms in close but is hip friendly! Poppers on the sleeves allow you to transition from swaddling at the appropriate age :)

I use the love to dream swaddle bags, 2.5 tog as our house can get quite cold, he's also layered up underneath. I used to swaddle him with a blanket but he always broke out and woke himself up, definitely got more sleep once we started using the swaddle bag! Also, it has two zips, so when you do a nappy change at night you don't need to take him out, just pull the bottom zip ip and pop his feet out.

He does hate going in it, but then again he hates being laid down in general so I don't think it's the bag itself as once he's in it and zipped up he's calm. I've started using his toys as a distraction when he goes in and it's cut his shouting to about 50% of the time 😂
