Hi ladies
I'm currently 27 weeks pregnant and for the past 2 weeks I'm feeling really sick and out of breath when I eat ... my heart races so bad and I feel rubbish for a good two hours ... I have no idea what it is ? Maybe related to sugar I've got my gtt on Tuesday so will find out about gestational diabetes. I don't know what it is but anytime I eat I feel really sick and heart pounds .. has anybody found this? Did you get any advice about it.

What is making you feel rough exactly?

The shortness of breath can be a common thing especially heading into the 3rd trimester.
But it can also be a sign of pre eclampsia

I have this especially after big meals.
I literally have to go to bed to do breathing exercise but for a good hour or two i feel rough with heart going fast and feeling like i can't breath.

I think it's the lack of space and stomach being full etc...
Also 27 weeks.

I'm 28 weeks and get this when I haven't eaten for a while and then eat a big meal. If I eat smaller meals more often it doesn't happen. It even helps if I've had a snack a short while before a big meal as it stops me eating too much at once. Don't let yourself get too hungry Smile

How fast does your heart go? Is it beating evenly or hopping and skipping a bit?

If its under 150 bpm and regular, try the tips below, if its faster and/or irregular or you feel lightheaded/weird when it happens then call someone medical and talk about it wih them

Tips
Eat much more slowly, you might be holding your breath wihout knowing while eating
Eat smaller meals more often
Try foods that need less chewing
Eat sitting properly on a chair and with you food on a table, sit up straight, you might be compressing your vagus nerve slightly and then food going down compresses it that bit more. The vagus nerve controls your heart rate
If it kicks off have a gulp of icy cold water and breath box style for a few minutes
