I read about "flutters" but is that really what it feels like? To me, that would describe very rapid movements, moving across an area.

How would you describe what you felt?

dd1 like a butterfly inside or bubbles at 16 weeks.
dd2 didn't get anything until much later because of the where the placenta was.

I felt like a popping/ poking sensation and the occasional rolling around 16-17 weeks. I'm 21 weeks now and those feelings are getting stronger week by week.

It felt like an eyelash blinking against my skin. So gentle.

Pure Fantasy!

I imagined a lot & couldn't be sure, so it was just me supposing what a twinge might have been and never knowing. Except after the baby was born I still felt the same twinges which is a pretty good sign I was over-interpretting a huge amount.

Feet in the ribs is pretty distinctive feeling, tbf.

To me it felt like that moment just before your tummy rumbles, but then the rumble doesn’t come. Really light movements.

@Mackie2020 like someone was really gently tickling my belly, but inside 🙈🤣 a weird sensation. Took me a wee while to realise what it was lol

DontFadeAway · 01/01/2021 11:43

I'd say I felt bubbles, it was really bizarre! Now 20+2 and feeling proper kicks 😍

FingersCrossedForAllOfUs · 01/01/2021 11:48

I only started feeling movement very recently at 23 weeks. At first I could only describe it as very slight sort of electric shocks and a feeling of a little fire burning! That didn’t last long and then I started feeling little pops and then a fluttering feeling. Now at 24 weeks it’s still kind of like flutters but a bit more often throughout the day/night. It’s such a relief to finally feel something!

Mine was like a tapping like I was gassy. I didn't feel proper movements till over 20 weeks.

Mackie2020 · 01/01/2021 11:50

Thanks!

I think bubbles, sometimes bubbles popping, is much more accurate. Not sure how it can be confused with wind! It's not like anything I've felt before, although I'm definitely paying much more attention than I would be otherwise. At first I could have thought I may have been imagining it but it is increasing. Looking forward to definite kicks in a few weeks.

Just to add, I have an anterior placenta and I was told that’s why the feelings were delayed because it can act like a buffer.

Briannaoftarth83 · 01/01/2021 11:56

You know when you're really tired and your eyelid starts to twitch on it's own. You can feel the twitching muscle but you aren't controlling it? The first movements felt like that for me.

Mackie2020 · 01/01/2021 17:55

@Briannaoftarth83 that's a really good description! It does feel like that to me too.

With my first pregnancy early movements felt like flutters or bubbles popping, then became like being tapped or prodded from the inside. Later on it was much more obvious kicks and the rolling was very weird, like someone doing a somersault inside your belly. Then in the last few weeks when baby constantly had her feet stuck/hooked underneath my ribs drove me crazy.

Pregnancy number 2 I had an anterior placenta and didn’t feel first movements till much later on.

Like my pulse, but not in the right rhythm to be a pulse!

FibroFighter81 · 02/01/2021 00:07

Imagine You have a baby frog in your closed hands and it jumps trying to get out....

Now imagine that in your womb and that's what it feels like lol!!
