Hello...I just moved to London and I am brazilian. I am 15 weeks pregnant. Anyone can help me or advise me about a good hospital to have my baby? I have to go to NHS anyway, but is quite difficult for me to choose if I never heard about certain hospitals? I live in North London, Enfield Area. Thanks a lot.

Are you registered with a doctor? The usual system is that you go to the doctor first who then refers you. I was given a choice of two hospitals (they usually refer you to hospitals in the same area) and I just went for the closest.

Thanks a lot Violeta. And by the way did you like the hospital you had your baby? I mean I dont know how much can I trust in the choices made by the GP, you know?

The Dr Foster website is v good for statistics and showing you what is available at each hospital. You can compare things like rates of caesarean, number of births per year, number of homebirths, rates of intervention etc.

Click on the link marked "birthing units" at teh right of the page.

FWIW I gave birth at the Whittington in Highgate, which is not a million miles away from you, along with most of my friends and was really happy with the care.

However there is a lot to be said for just going to the one closest to you, as you will spend a lot of time shuttling back and forth, which gets harder and harder the more pregnant you are! This particularly applies if you want, or think you may want, a home birth, as they will often only offer a home birth to women within a certain radius.

Good luck with whatever you choose and welcome to London!
