Anti K antibodies - confused

Hi,

I'm currently 31 weeks and have had my blood test results back which confirm Anti K antibodies. I'm not sure what this means. I've done some reading on the RCOG website and I'm still confused. Has anyone had a similar result? I'd love to hear what this actually means. Thanks in advance Flowers

This means that your body has made antibodies to a protein called Kell which some people make on the surface of red blood cells. You don’t make this on your red blood cells but you’ve come into contact with it, either via a blood transfusion or by pregnancy.
If your baby makes the Kell protein then your antibodies can cross the placenta and destroy their red blood cells, so they will want to monitor your antibody levels and also baby’s wellbeing during the rest of your pregnancy.
They’ll take cord blood at delivery to look for the reaction between the antibodies and baby’s blood, and may want you to stay in for monitoring for 24 hours at least.
Hope this helps.

Thanks @Rhubarbe, I tried to call the midwife and she said there's nobody in that knows about antibodies until Tuesday so now I'm worried that the people treating me won't know to monitor baby x

If they are anti-Kell antibodies then the RCOG guidance is clear that you should be referred to a Consultant, so try not to worry too much, you will be looked after.
