Just curious if this is normal?

Hi everyone,

I'm currently 22 weeks pregnant and have noticed a change in my baby's movements in the last few weeks. At first, I was feeling little "flutters" in my upper belly, especially whenever I ate and my blood sugar levels went up.

In the past 2 weeks though, I haven't felt those as much which have gotten me a bit worried. I do, however, feel more of a "churning" sensation under my belly button - almost like a slight muscle spasm - especially around the same time that I used to feel the flutters after eating.

Just curious if anyone else had experienced something similar? I'm really hoping it's her, just a different sensation now that she's bigger but of course I can't help but worry.

Thanks so much!

That sounds normal to me. The movements do get more defined as baby gets bigger. In time you'll feel definite kicks and pushing.

If you are unsure though or think something might not be quite right your midwife team would be the best people to contact.

@Lindy2 thanks so much for your reply - it's very easy to go down a rabbit hole with slight concerns!

I was initially a bit freaked out about becoming a mum but the little flutters were really helping me to bond with the baby so it's reassuring to know it just changing as she grows.

I'd agree this sounds normal. Baby is getting a lot stronger. As long as you're still feeling movements, that's the main thing, however they don't tend to worry that much until 24 weeks

@SnooperTrooper12345 Thanks, that's very reassuring to hear. Maybe what I'm mistaking for churning is just being kicked harder by stronger little legs. There's no painful cramping or anything else to indicate anything is wrong but it's really helpful for peace of mind. I promised myself I wouldn't be a nervous mother-to-be but I now appreciate how hard that is when you're in the middle of it!
